iPhone stolen from car... insurance question

Hiya. Was playing football the other night when loads of yobs vandalised several cars in the car park, unfortunately mine included. They smashed the window and stole my iPhone which was in the glove compartment... typical, I never leave it in my car but as it was chucking it down and didn't have a waterproof jacket I thought I'd keep it in the driest place
Now, I opted for additional 'away from home' cover on my home insurance for items up to the value of £1,000 but just thought... am I covered if it was in the car? Remember a friend once saying that insurance companies don't pay out for items stolen from cars.
Help is much appreciated.

In fact, I've just found out my policy booklet states: A limit of £1,500 applies to thefts from unattended motor vehicles.
Good news!0
