Many thanks OP, I went into the Robroyston branch near Bishopbriggs this morning, and bought 2 metal troughs reduced from 9.99 to 2.50, and 6 or the barrel planters, paid the grand total of £20 on the nose ;) CHeck out staff, not overly happy be warned, much grumbling about how it must be a mistake, so I legged it quickly lol
  • Probably store specific as still original price in Gloucester store
  • Having said that, they have got 60l bags of basket compost reduced to 2.49 which is a good buy

It's old stock as they have barrels that look almost exactly the same in the main garden centre bit marked at £17.99. There was big planters too, but I wasn;t sure about the 2 for £25 offer on them and as they are yellow labeled I didn;t check them out, I didn;t want to not be able to return them if they went through full price.
  • oh you are a lucky ducky, i raced to homebase 1st thing today, but they were still 2 for £25. i still bought 2 tho. would have liked more, but not at that price.
    roll on summer now.....

I checked these out in my local store - scanned one at the till and they were selling at £19.99. Not very well made in any case - they all had the ends of nails poking through in places. I had a look at these ones too, which were much better made but a little smaller and had labels in them stating they were made of cedar. They have metal handles rather than rope - http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=20001&catalogId=1500000701&langId=-1&searchTerms=833414

In store they were £14.99, not on any further discount. No sign of the compost offer mentioned previously, either.

I then went to a different branch of Homebase (Warwick). The planters with the rope handles were still £19.99, but the ones with the metal handles were at an assortment of prices for exactly the same item - some were £19.99, others £14.99, and some for £4.99. Exactly the same item despription on the label, just a different price printed on them!
I got 2 @ £4.99 - so pleased as I nearly bought one online last week for £25 plus delivery for around the same size as these ones.

I have to say the barrels I bought don't look very badly made, and don't have nails sticking out all over them lol

They look exactly like the pic you posted, but with thick rope handles ;)

Could you tell me if there were many left with £4.99 price labels on? Just wondering if it's worth a trip tomorrow.

    Thank you!

There were around 4 or 5 of the ones labelled £4.99 left on the shelf - I moved them towards the back of the display so that any MSEers who knew about this glitch would know to look through them.....

At the Warwick branch they are in the outside section, bottom shelf on the display.

Hope there are some left when you go!
