Netbook with inbuilt 3G ?

Hi All

I've been after a small (10.1") netbook that has inbuilt 3G ability (no dongles!), and not priced at £1,000+. Is there such a thing a relatively inexpensive Netbook (£200-£400) that has this ability?? I've been searching for months and am finding the tech info with Netbooks is poor - one advert will state it has 3G and another with the same model will not mention it!

There defiantely seems to be a gap in the market here!

Any help appreciated!!

I bought an Advent 4213 netbook just over a year ago (£240) and it has a sim slot for mobile broadband. I guess most people that require this now just buy a 3g dongle.

thanks, forgot to say much be windows based due to remote access software i need to run...

I don't like the idea of a dongle hanging off the notebook - seems crazy to have the perfect mobile device but forget to finish it off with a means of connecting to 3G ..

MSI wind is a nice little netbook, based on the Atom I believe. but it still needs a dongle to connect to 3G. I suppose because 3G is a mobile technology the manufacturers expect you to buy a 3G phone.

Get yourself on Ebay and look for an IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad x200s. Most of those have inbuilt 3G, a proper processor, proper widescreen but are no heavier or much larger than a netbook but built infinitely better.

If it is the dongle sticking out of the netbook that is annoying (and it is), then use the wireless MiFi dongle which I always keep in the bag. You can then also use it to connect other devices wirelessly like your smartphone, iPod or tablet.

YOu can find it cheaper if you look around (especially the older version).
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

    Just one warning...

I'm away from home and using a 3G dongle on my netbook.

Plugged into the netbook (Samsung NC10, great machine) I only got GPRS while sat 3ft from the window, as close as I could get and still be comfortable.

Plugged into a USB hub with a long lead placed on the windowsill - 3G!

So be aware that a dongle (on a lead) can be more flexible and get better results.

Edit: sounds like the MiFi is just as flexible!

You can stick the MiFi on the roof of the house if you like with no problems and the fact that it is not attached to anything makes it ideal for these circumstances.

    Another vote for the MIFI

My father uses his with a netbook and now an iPad.

It just seemed the easiest solution to get him online. It just presents as a wireless router so you can use whatever OS you prefer.

Looks like a good idea. Works the same as using your Android phone as a wireless hotspot.
