Well, now the kitten is acting the hard man instead :rotfl:

But there was sleeping together last night :)

  • It will get better, slowly!!!! Having taken in a young adult male cat (neutered) back in November, with two very settled 7yr olds, (male & female).. It's still a bit 'I'm keeping my beady eye on all of you when you're together...!' I do think the Feliway plug-in has helped, truly. Also, when new boy has been a bit overly bossy and strutting his stuff, we've shut him in a seperate room with food, comfy bed & ensuite facilities so he can calm down and our older two get a bit of respite. It's never easy, really and these introductions have to be handled very carefully. And don't be afraid to go back a few steps if all concerned suddenly can't cope with the enforced intimacy. There's bound to be some shake up in the cat hierachy and your existing cat's world of one-to-one with you has been shaken up beyond belief. Keep giving her loads of attention and new boy will finally find his rung on the status ladder. If your two have been spotted sleeping together, that's a really promising sign. Our two boys have only recently been spotted snoozing on the same bed (not curled up together, but about 3' apart) and I was so pleased to think they felt comfy enought to nod off in each others company.

    Good luck xx

It isn't the best picture, had to use the flash in the dark, but I needed proof ;)

Just thought I'd give a quick update. Both cats are now fine in each others company, they roll around the floor together lots which I first took to be fighting but turns out they are actually playing :rotfl:

My older cat does still get annoyed with the kitten sometimes but that's to be expected with the age difference I think :)

So glad it's all worked out, it was a stressful time! Thanks everyone for the advice!

  • This is interesting reading as I would love to get a companion for my 4yr old female. Are there any rules on whether it should be another female or not? Or the best age?
