Phone as modem
Hi all,
I'm returning to the UK after working abroad for a while and am getting myself sorted with a Giffgaff SIM to put into my existing phone. The package I'm looking at includes "unlimited data". My question is - if I connect my phone to my laptop and use the phone as a modem will this be covered by my data package?
Thanks.

Hi there,
If you would like to take a read of the previous thread on MSE, you will be able to find the answer to the question of using tethering on giffgaff.

Thanks for the reply.
Never mind, I'll probably get a dongle as well.
One more question - the phone I'll be using does not have 3G capability, just 2G. Do I understand the techy stuff correctly in that I'll still be able to use the net but it'll just be slower?!0 -

That is true. But if you use opera browser,it compresses data so it will make it slightly faster.
As for the tethering.Giffgaff do not allow it but it works fine on Three or t_mobile.
