No, she can't log into the router interface because she has changed the default password and now forgotten it. I know we've got to do a factory reset and know how to do that.
What I was seeking was to narrow down the options for the BT Broadband username and password to set the connection up again once we've done the reset. Not the router login.

Is it a home hub (black curved one)?

If so, then just reset the thing, it will automatically setup itself with the internet details

If it's asking for an admin password after you stick a pin in it to reset it, try the hub's serial number.

Some versions of BT hubs use this because of security problems with the original BT wireless hubs (the big white ones).

No, it's HH 1.0 (the white square one).
Doing the reset on Weds, will report back.

Damn, that's the old one I had.

Call BT, they normally give out a free upgrade as that's a defunct model

Your username could be either joe.bloogs@btinternet.com (bt) or the username and password for newer models. (pw bt was for the white ones)

She tried that (at my suggestion) and they said only free if she agrees another 12m broadband. Good old BT!

At the risk of sounding controversial, why not get her to buy a DECENT router instead of messing around with a carpy bt hub ???? Is it a funding issue, or is it a non-techie just wanting something "that works" ??

She thinks that if it has 'BT' on the label then it must be the best. Sigh...
