BT Broadband Username and Passsword: Help Needed

Friend has a BT HomeHub 1 which needs the wireless channel changing. Unfortunately she's changed the router login password and forgotten it...
No problem I said, we'll just do a factory reset on it and re-enter your details from scratch-what's your BT Broadband username and password? She's forgotten those too...
Trawling through the BT broadband help pages gives contradictory info. As far as I can tell, your broadband username is the same as your BT Yahoo email address (so would be joebloggs@btintenet.com)? Alternatively it's just 'broadbanduser@btbroadband.com'?
But is the password 'btinternet', something else, or just left blank?
I presume that all the other settings are standard for BT (VPI/VCI 0, 38, PPoA)?
Perhaps someone who has the same set up could advise please?

Hi
I had a friend, the same happened to him....
I hope this doesn't seem too obvious, but he simply called BT Broadband help and they sorted it in two minutes, they were very helpful. Can anyone explain to me how to put a signature here?

Hi,
have a look here.
There's a bit says:
You'll find your username and password in the broadband welcome letter or email we sent you.
If she hasn't got the letter she can maybe access email from your computer.
And:
Forgotten your password?
That's not a problem. You can reset your password here. For security, we'll ask you to answer your security question and confirm a few personal details.
Again, maybe from your computer.0 -

It varies if you are an original user from the first system or new users there can be a lot of variations. If you're on the new home hubs (black) v3 - curved. Try using the ones I've highlighted first.

The BT hub needs to be reset if you want to change the wireless channel. You can rsset the hub to its original settings by pressing the reset. This is normally on the Right Hand Side, as a pin hole. This resets the Hub and passwords to those set on the back of the hub.
You can then didddle away with the trinket to your hearts content.0 -
My BT internet has no Password and the usename is
@btinternet.com. It is wired and the internet is line-dependent (i.e never needs a password) and connects to the net as soon as any computer is hooked to that phone line without the need for any credentials. If I want to go wireless then would only need to set a password for the router itself and nothing for the line (empty password).Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
I've found Jarvisor's web site extremely helpful in the past.
I'm not allowed to post links, but if you Google Jarvisor home hub how to do passwords it should come up as the first link. This gives detailed instructions.

You are confusing things.... The passwords you seem to be talking about are those the hub uses to connect to the internet.
You are looking for the password to access the hub's user interface. These used to be of the form admin/admin or similar. Or on later hubs the password was the hub's serial number from the label. Of course if she has changed these, they will be totally different, and only she will know. Whether a reset takes them back to the defaults (admin/admin or serial number) I don't know.0 -

The fact that they are talking about the Virtual Circuit settings, suggests to me they are already logged into the router and trying to find network settings
BTW : default router details is admin/serial. It was admin/bt or admin/admin but too many people were leaving them as default and they were easy to crackOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them
