  • Hmm not many people on that forum recommend having a new roof fitted. Might just stick with the orginal vinyl roof. It dosen't leak and is in great condition.

I have an old BMW E36 convertible, the hardtop went on in November and I dont see me taking it off until march/april time.
For me its about having the rear heated screen and that during the bad weather/gritted roads the soft top stays clean and dry.

Nothing better for a convertible to get out on a dry winters day with the top down/off.

The air is equally dry, and you can put everything to bed in snug cosy fashion.:p

Whatever you do if there is any suggestion the soft top is damp, don't store it away.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

How much did that cost to change the soft top?

I think one of the issues is it can be such a pain taking the hard top off and putting it back on again constantly. They ain't heavy, but are really awkward and defo needs 2 people.

I bought the top from an ebayer seller and changed it with a friend, it took most the weekend, but the video which came with the top was really useful and it really wasn't too difficult, just took my time, but really about five to six hours will do it, mine is a Mk1 import a 1991 which I have owned for ten years.
