Seller pestering for feedback

I bought an item last week and since the moment the order went through I've had 5 messages asking for feedback. Most of them are saying how they want to protect their excellent feedback and DSR's.
Here's one of them:
Please note: We rely on +ve feedback and 5* DSR ratings to maintain our business.
We pride ourselves on offering quality items with excellent customer support.
If you are happy with our service, please take the time to leave us, feedback and a minium 3 star detailed seller rating once you have received your goods.
If you are not happy please contact us first before leaving feedback or escalating a case so we can deal with any issues you may have immediately.
I'm not happy with being told what feedback to leave. The product is good and delivery was fast but I hate being pestered for anything (ask my son lol). I'm tempted not to leave any FB. What would you do?

I'd leave positive feedback if I was pleased with the item but mark them down on their communications star - I'd be extremely irritated to be pestered in such a way, and would have to reflect that in the stars I left.Team Pink! Baby girl due 25/5/140

its a bit frustrating when they dont leave feedback at all. i sold 10 items a couple of weeks ago posted them out straight away only 3 have left feedback0

I agree.. it is frustrating when people don't leave feedback, but I would NEVER pester anyone to leave it for me...
I always leave feedback as soon as I can when I receive something (but that's just me!). Unless there has been a long wait for the item, I generally leave full 5 stars on everything!
I have been pestered like this in the past from people I have bought from (before the item has even arrived in some cases, and then the next day etc etc).
These people do not ever receive any feedback from me! It is optional and I will not be forced or bullied into doing so! I delete them from my "items won" and forget about it!0 -

I have to say that I found this bit rather cheeky. I thought it was up to the buyer to decide how many stars to give the seller, and not be dicated to by them. I must be missing something.
I remember being pestered once (in the days before star ratings) by a buyer who left me 5 emails within an hour, all saying "leave feedback", that was all, no please, thankyou, kiss my tush or anything.
I just put a postive tick and wrote "left feedback" in the column - never heard anything from them again, and hopefully I taught them a lesson in politeness.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

I personally dislike the whole feedback system as it stands at present. If I were the seller and someone paid me promptly for an item I would leave positive feedback for them and hope that on receiving said item that they return the compliment.
As a buyer I feel like I am being held to ransom because the seller will not leave feedback for me despite my prompt payment until they have themselves received feedback from me as the buyer.
I can see why it's ended up like this thanks to the way Ebay works but it just seems wrong to me that I am the one stumping up the cash in the first place and cannot get any feedback until I've given them a rating.
Sorry, minor gripe and apologies if I slightly derailed the thread, it's just a pet hate of mine and if I do sell something I always give them feedback before I have even had any from them (and yes, I can see the danger in that too).0 -
I often get badgered for feedback and I must confess it gets my back up ~ I leave feedback when I'm good and ready, I do it in chunks, rather than when I sell or buy; it's always accurate and always fair. If I have a problem, I always make contact to resolve, if resolution is reached amicably, my feedback is still terrific, as you can't beat a seller that will deal with any issues without preamble or time wasting.
Recently I bought a phone, BIN on 23/12/10, free first class recorded post. Now, I didn't anticipate it being sent prior to Christmas, despite the seller suggesting that if she found time, she'd post on 24th. I really didn't expect her to find time.
On 5th of Jan I wondered if she'd sent it yet. She responded very quickly telling me she'd been really busy visiting the family, had been ill and had lost her internet over the holiday period. Said she's posted that day.
Two days later a tracking number appeared on the item, the following day the parcel arrived.
Now 15 full days had passed since I paid, 7 of them bank holidays. By my reckoning, that leaves 8 working days between my payment and receipt.
Two weeks later, 'hello, please could you leave me feedback. I've left you geat feedback.'
I didn't respond, one week later, another email.
I did respond. I told her I didn't llike to be badgered for feedback, I, like many others, prefer to leave feedback in chunks, and it could put backs up to get repeated requests for feedback. I also pointed out that the delay in sending mmight reflect in my rating.
She told me she 'doesn't need feedback from people like me there's plenty more nice people who will leave her feedback and I wish I hadn't l;eft you good feedback...' and so on.
So I didn't leave her any, cos she didn't need it from 'people like me' anyway.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

I've had several sellers that haven't left me any feedback despite me adding to theirs and it is a bit of an annoyance when I've gone to the trouble of adding to their feedback. That said, I've never pestered someone to leave feedback for me, I just leave it and move on.
However, in this case I think the seller deserved some positive feedback as he/she appears to have done the best they could given the time of year and prevailing weather at the time and he/she has offered very plausible explanations.
I personally would (and will) block anyone from bidding that resembles your username here. Your "I'll add feedback when I can be bothered to do it in bulk" is an insult and I'll bet that many of your "Leave feedback" reminders get forgotton with your current system. The whole Ebay experience relies on people being able to trust sellers that have been rated by buyers and I personally add feedback the same day as receiving the item out of common courtesy.0 -

You do realsie feedback is not compulsory don't you?
Most of us use ebay to make money, not just to get feedback ..personally if i were the seller I would consider myself lucky that gravity tolls did not leave feedback, if I couldn't be bothered to post for that long I'd be expecting a neg and poor stars. The seller sounds a bit daft anyway, sending a phone outside of the 7 days shipping time means she had lost all paypal seller protection anyway. In fact I would have left very low despatch stars in that incidence, so Ithink gravity was quite restrained.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As a seller, it irritates me that eBay pester my buyers for feedback and you CANNOT opt out.0

Best add any usernames like mine too then as that's also how I do it, both on my business accounts and on my personal account. None of my eBay names even vaguely resemble my username here though, so I'm not sure how you're going to get around that.
Feedback is optional, stop getting your knickers in a twist - there are bigger and worse things to worry about than that.
