Very Disapointed With Sky

For me to use that socket requires some work. I need to drill the wall to pass the cables to other room. Also, why do I need to do all those work, if there were an engineer already scheduled to come to my house and been canceled by SKY. This is why I am upset. Why are they cancelling the engineer visit without asking me? I specificly told them that i needed a new socket and I specificly asked them if I will be charged for it? Because I knew for a fact they do charge. But they told me and promised me it will all be free.
Because you've already got a master socket and that's all that BT Openreach will connect to. They do not own, or work on anything beyond the master without charging for it. Sky don't do phones, their installers and sales people know nothing about them.
If the extension socket is already in place then it may already be cabled, there's just a fault somewhere which is a 5 minute job to fix.
Either way, it's your job to fix it, not OR or Sky.No free lunch, and no free laptop

It is exactly the same for VM.They are only responsible for anything up to & including the master socket, anything after that, unless fitted by the CP,is the customers responsibility & hence chargable.
The BT Openreach engineer is able to remote test the line from the exchange,as long as everything shows as working,he doesn't have need to visit the house.
If the OP required,as he stated,an extra socket to be fitted, then he should have mentioned this to the Sky installer when he called.A phone extension fitted BY the Sky installer be it for phone & broadband IS free to be installed as that is part of his job,it is however not free if done by BT openreach.0 -
Sky sales staff don't work for sky, have 1 weeks of classroom training on how to sell and then sent door to door, They don't even work for sky, they work for a company called APCO Group who then have many marketing companies. Theyre commission only so will promise the world0

You're right,I missed that bit in the OP's first post.0 -
Like many have said before, any internal cabling in your home is your own responsibilty and if you want the socket moving you would be responsible for paying for it.
I had a similar problem with another provider and found that apparently the master socket isn't even the responsibility of your telephone line provider as it is inside your home, only the line upto something called the Network Interface Device (usually on the wall outside your home where the phone line enters) is their responsibility. I was told at the time that if and OpenReach engineer could not find a fault on the line upto the house and had to enter I would be charged £150 straight away.
As for the installers it was under the impression that their only responsibility where telephony is concerned is to connect the set top box to the phoneline. Broadband is a self setup anyways and easy enough. Get a local engineer out of the yellow pages and get it sorted for a fraction of the cost.0 -

My understanding is that your master socket is live however the other sockets are not. If this is correct then the internal wiring should already be in the property and the loose wires behind the master socket. If this is the case it really isn't a massive job to connect the other boxes to the master socket may explanations how to on the web. If you can hold a screw driver then you could do it0
