Never paid council tax!

Where's her official residence? Where does she live mon-fri? does she pay CT there?
Council Tax is associated with an address rather than an individual so it doesn't necessarily matter if she personally has not paid council tax. It's only a problem if she's living with someone who is claiming a single person's discount. (presuming she's not discounted for CT reasons such as being student)

Apparently she can go 3 weeks away from "home", however I think the dad is claiming a single discount. In affect it could be said it would be like a friend staying with another friend every 2 or 3 weeks for a weekend and expecting them to pay council tax on it .
So what if this went on for the next, say, 10 years?0 -

Where does she live when she's not at her dad's?
Where do all her bills/bank statments/payslips etc... go?
Is she on the electoral roll?0 -

and yes. They want to do the right thing.
That's what I was thinking about you, that's why I asked if they had asked you to find out or if you were just a nosey friend
The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.0 -

If she is not residing there, and can prove it, then she would be eligible for discount.
No I don't work for the council. Just sick of my CT contribution having to subsidise fraudsters like your 'friend'. My CT is raised because of her avoidance.
But I did work for a Sherriff Officers who dealt with CT arrears...and they don't hang about with enforcement action hence my getting her to phone them first comment.
Fraudster is a very strong (and frankly wrong) word. She is working, and paying NI contributions (not to mention hefty hotel bills).0 -

To her dad's home.
I don't know.
She's not doing anything wrong. However it is possible that the council could say that her dad is claiming his single person's discount under false pretenses as the paper trail will show that his daughter is living with him. In which case he'd have to prove she spent most of her time living elsewhere.
He'd be better off getting advice from his council.0 -
The two links below may help - it seems there's no specific definition of 'main residence'

No no, I have to agree with Loopy on this one. You think it's easy trying to pay for a whole country's outgoings? Her tax returns are the only source of income for the entire country. (obviously if you disregard the other 30 million people.) :rotfl:0 -
Are either of her parents claiming single person's discount? If they live together, and pay full council tax - where is the problem? Council tax is charged upon a property, not upon an individual.0

Perhaps you should be more concerned on how councils [strike]waste[/strike] spend your money.
Either way this forum's about advice not your stupid views.0
