Never paid council tax!

I have a friend who has a daughter who works away mon-fri, but comes home most weekends. The girl has never paid any council tax...this has been going on for 7 years. All her post is sent to her father's address. In a way I suppose she doesn't "exist", I doubt she'd be eligible to vote.

The parent hasn't declared her as a resident. Are there any problems with this...like backdated demands?

    Yes

7 years worth and counting until she pays.

Suggest she gets it sorted before they catch up with her.

Where's her official residence? Where does she live mon-fri? does she pay CT there?

Council Tax is associated with an address rather than an individual so it doesn't necessarily matter if she personally has not paid council tax. It's only a problem if she's living with someone who is claiming a single person's discount. (presuming she's not discounted for CT reasons such as being student)

Why are you asking about them? have they asked you too?
The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.

That was an ultra quick reply, you don't work for the council do you? ;)

But if she stays in a hotel mon-fri, and as far as anyone else knows she may, and actually often does stay there for the whole week what business is it of anyone else?

MrsManda's given the info. I'm only curious as to why you'd think she wouldn't be eligible to vote? Is she under 18 ?
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!

That just not correct. It's the home owner(s)/tenant(s) who are liable not her.

It doesn't matter where she stays...if she owns/is a tenant of a property then she has to pay CT.

If she is not residing there, and can prove it, then she would be eligible for discount.

No I don't work for the council. Just sick of my CT contribution having to subsidise fraudsters like your 'friend'. My CT is raised because of her avoidance.

But I did work for a Sherriff Officers who dealt with CT arrears...and they don't hang about with enforcement action hence my getting her to phone them first comment.

Where does it state that she is not the home owner/tenant?

Not necessarily. Someone has to pay CT for a property if that property is not exempt. This doesn't not mean everyone who lives in a property has to pay CT. See my link above
