We were hoping to go away in ten days time but because of a `late booking` fee of £30 (2 x £15) lieved by T. Cook we are not. Well, not quite!
Despite`robust` dicussion with T.Cook who would not wiave this rediculous charge we booked with F.Choice who were more than happy to take our money for the same holiday package LESS the `late booking` charge.
Late Booking charge what dat? Any extra work? Any extra expense to the provider? No just another rip off.

The reason on late booking charge within this time frame is due to getting tickets fast tracked and through to collect at the airport, all operators charge this but some have different time frames tcook is 14 days, thomson/fchoice 7 days and some others just lump it into adult cost so you would never notice0

I can't remember the last time that I was provided with tickets. I thought they became obsolete years ago.
I simply take with me a print out of my booking confirmation.0 -
mcc, a lot of 'package holidays' still use the old fashioned tickets for charter flights, although some are steadily moving away from this now. The 'Late Booking Fee' did used to be called a 'Ticket On Departure' fee as, when booking within so many days like HAYLEY says, you used to pick your tickets up from the airport. However with most operators the tickets were not 'rushed' to the airport, however simply printed at the airport the day you are due to depart. As some are now moving away from tickets, they cannot really charge you a 'Ticket On Departure' fee when effectively you are not actually collecting any tickets. Therefore, they introduced a 'Late Booking Fee'.
However, there are still plenty of smaller tour operators who will not charge you this fee.

It's just part of their pricing structure.
You will undoubtedly have been offered a price that was less that the printed brochure price, so what's your problem?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
It would appear that withabix has fail to grasp the ethos of MSE.
Consumer revenge?

Not at all.
Misuse of the phrase 'rip off' annoys me somewhat though.
The total price will have been less than the brochure price. You had (and used) your freedom of choice to shop elsewhere and you did so.
No rip off.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

No rip off.
I notice your signature says `every little helps` well in my case the `every little helps` amounted to £30 saving.
I cannot understand why you appear to be unable to grasp what is and what is not a rip off!

Withabix is right its not a Rip Off, you booked a late deal you need tickets there isnt time to deliver them to the shop you need to pick them up from the airport, someones wages need to be paid to man that desk that you collect your tickets from. At least Thomas cook itemise their charges ie inflight meals, 20kg luggage, resort transfers, seats together, ticket on departure, unlike some of the opposition who just lump their prices together and you pay it without knowing it.
I had a customer flying from manchester to egypt, their flight was canx and moved to gatwick so they expected to get the flight supplement of £40per person back as it had said in the thomsons brochure, oh no their customer service said they hadnt paid that and because they just had 1 lumped together price theres not a dammed thing they can do.0
