Actually I overheard one member of staff talking to someone else on the subject. So I asked for clarification, given my potential return this afternoon.

Clearly you've not read what Jennifer_Jane wrote above.

Yes I am angry, and why not? I'm a paying customer and have the receipt to prove it.

You're right and dander was talking rubbish. I know of a B&Q in Kent where there isn't the slightest chance of people parking there while they shop somewhere else (it's too far from anywhere) yet the store still has these ridiculous rules.

I vote with my feet and shop elsewhere, much as I did when a local Asda began to charge for parking. I simply never went back.

If enough of us do likewise, eventually these stores will get the message. Or not - in which case they'll go the way of Woolworths. Even sometime retail giants can go out of business....

Just went to buy some emergency repair glue and clouts for the shed roof felt at B&Q, due the damage caused by todays heavy wind. The staff warned me not to return to buy a roll of felt, that I might have needed, as I would be charged £80, for merely returning within 4 hours!

    Luckily Wickes is close by.
You will not receive a "fine". It is an unenforceable invoice requesting you to pay them some money. Only a Council or the police can issue fines. I'm amazed that people using this website have not been curious enough to explore other sections. Including one about Parking Problems.
Have a look here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163. Read some or all of the threads and then ignore any paper work that you get from any of the Private Parking Companies(PPC) Once you have done that, rest easy in the knowledge that you have committed no crime and are just the victim of a PPC scam. Which you can afford to ignore completely.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Luckily, thanks to this forum, I realised the whole thing was a nonsense and just ignored the very nasty letters from the car park administrator.
Jennifer clearly told you that there is nothing to worry about.

Still, at least B&Q's prices are vat inclusive.
That's one less thing to worry about.

I did actually. It's still an Anti-customer policy, a point that she 'totally agreed', and she said she won't be going there again.

Unfortunately not every customer reads these forums.

Going by the size of her. She was definitely spending too long in KFC.

I loved the way this was written 'plumped for'/'fat chance' etc. Very tongue in cheek by The Sun. Very funny.

In respect of what dander said about RobertinHerts being just here for a rant. I agree with RobertinHerts completely. This is anti-customer, of course it is.

I feel an inordinate amount of rage about the whole incident and the three awful letters I received from the parking company. I had to keep returning to the Parking penalty thread for comfort and support.

If Robert wants to rant, why shouldn't he?

PS this B&Q is not near the station, was virtually empty as it usually is, and is a bit of a walk to the town centre. I always manage to find other parking around the town (it's just that I was in B&Q for something).
  • I thought this was a Consumer forum however some people here seem not to be concerned about consumers. I think respect should be shown for Jennifer's situation. I very much doubt she is the only one.

Don't forget that most don't know about their rights and can be easily persuaded to pay up. Note that despite the number of researchers it has the Sun didn't say 'You don't have to pay these unenforceable demands'.
