New York Car Rental Query

We're flying to New York in the summer. We'll stay one week in the city, then pick up a car rental in Manhattan and head for Niagara Falls and New England, eventually returning the car to JFK to fly home. Looking on the usrentacar site, they state they have no insurance excesses, with the exceptions of New York and Alaska. Does anyone know what the excess for New York is, and recommendations for insurance providers who will cover it?
