Anyone got an HTC Desire? Does it have sat nav?

Hi folks - I'm up for a vodafone phone upgrade soon. My line rental is only £20, and I reckon I can push for a free HTC Desire. Firstly does the Desire have free sat nav on it??? Any other comments re the Desire handset I might find useful?

Yes it comes with google maps 5 and google NAvigation. They are very good, only niggle is that currently te don't show your speed, but that is supposed to be in a future updat.

I take it that you need a mobile internet connection when using the sat nav?

Yeah, you do so that might push the price of your tariff up a bit.

yeah it requres it when you first get the directions and anytime you go off course, but google will be at somepoint in the future be updating maps to allow offline routing, though when is anyones guess.

The last big update (v5.0) did add this to an extent.

Android satnav is superb, end of. You can get away without using data if you start the planning in wi-fi!. I really think that Ga-hoo-gle have got this bang to rights!
