When Sainsbury's energy first started up (EDF basically) we signed up in store witht he promise of lots of points, they never materialised despite lots of letters, phone calls etc to both EDF and Nectar who both blamed each other and just ping ponged us back and forth.
I switched to EDF on line through Nectar and got all the points I was supposed to with no problems or chasing.0 -
I just tried using the link in the first post and it worked. However, having done my homework, it does not pay to move. Although, technically I gain £100 in Nectar points, it will cost me £30 to cancel my e-on contract and I will be paying about £50 per annum more for their Standard tariff. Even, if I switch to an on-line tariff after 2 months, it will still cost me more.
BTW, points are not awarded on Websaver, OnlineSaver or Pay as you go tariff or add-ons. Therefore, only the standard tariff qualifies for this offer.
It states Nectar ponts are awarded after 60 days and doesn't appear to mention a lock-in, so switch back to Eon after 2 months will have only cost you £8 in higher tariff charge plus the £30 Eon fee = £38, £62 saving and back with Eon after 2 months OR whichever Energy supplier is offering a better cashback deal.0 -
I havent checked but if what dollywops says about being standard tarriff only, do the cashback and points outweigh going for a cheaper online tarriff?
Martin always says avoid the standard and go for the online tarriffs because of the savings, just want to make doubly sure first.0 -

for some, it will pay to switch; for others, it won't. it depends on where you live, who your current supplier is, your energy usage etc.
i am with edf, on an online tariff. did a quick comparison, i would pay about £50 more per year if i switched to BG standard tariff. so for me, i would earn a net £160/£60 cashback.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Based on my last quarters bills and some estimation, switching from EDF Eco 20:20 to a standard BG tarrif would cost about £80 per year more, but I would get £100 of Nectar points.
For me, Eco 20:20 with EDF is cheaper than their online tarrifs, but checking BG's Websaver 10 against it, I think it would work out about £80 less than I currently pay. Obviously no bonus Nectar points (although a few normal ones), but I would be able to get free cavity wall insulation, worth about £150 for our house.

Hi,
This is not quite right. As long as you have an Energy or Maintenance and Repair account with us (for example: gas, electricity, HomeCare 100® Kitchen Appliance Cover, or Plumbing and Drains Cover) you can collect points. Pay as you go customers should call the call centre on freephone 0800 048 0303 and your account will be linked with your Nectar card.0
