I have the £5 Simplicity deal and it is 12,000 uk text messages. I think text messages to international numbers are charged on top.

It is just plain dumb and should be stomped out by OFCOM and ASA, Broadband, texts, calls, data, none of it is unlimited yet it is sold as such.

I've never understood this. If there's a limit of 3000 text messages, why don't they just say the deal comes with 3000 text messages instead of saying it's "unlimited" but with a limit hidden away in the terms and conditions? It's absolutely irrelevent if to most customers the hidden limit does essentially make the service unlimited as that does not alter the meaning of the word unlimited! I suspect some sort of corruption or collusion on the ASAs part. They must get hundreds and thousands of complaints about these sorts of claims, so why do they continually rule that the term 'unlimited' is OK to use unless there is some sort of back-handed agreement going on?

The whole thing makes a mockery of the ASA's mission statement:

The text messages are across network and yeah, international SMS are chargeable. Where did you get the 12,000 limit from? It's the first I've heard of it and I couldn't see anything about it in the T&C. While on O2 all the unlimited allowances do have fair usage policies I've only ever heard of the data fair usage policy every being enforced.

When you look at My O2, either in your handset or on-line it shows you how many you have left. It starts at 12,000 and counts down. As I said earlier its different for contract customers.

As I stated before, the ASA have repeatedly ruled that unlimited in sales terms is not the same as the dictionary definition.

You may not like it but the ASA are unlikely to change there stance on this so will not move to stop the practice in advertising.,

I think now that Three have got a genuine unlimited contract (the one plan), things will change

I doubt it. These truly unlimited plans have been tried before but always seem to flounder. I remember reading of GiffGaff having to withdraw their £30 goodybag due to abuse (one punter admitted on giffgaff's own forums to talking to his girlfriend for over 8 hours a day on speakerphone whilst he played on his xbox!). These sort of plans just attract the abusers that no other network wants and it usually ends in tears!

It's not unlimited, 2000 minutes, 5000 3 to 3 calls and 5000 text messages. Data is all you can eat but you can bet there will be FUP somewhere.

Three are still trying to attract customers through genereous packages to make up for the fact there network has a bad reputation for coverage.
