Roller skating with a dog.... would you?

I think it might depend on how fast your dog hoofs it as well.
When I tried running with mutt on the lead (in both our younger days!) her trot was too slow and her run was full speed ahead which there was no chance of me keeping up with. We never quite managed to synchronise it - either I was having to stop to wait for her, or my arm was getting wrenched out of its socket.
P.S Don't forget the cushion down the back of the trousers.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Might I suggest practicing your skating FIRST before taking the dog out on them?? I have this vision in my head of you being dragged along full speed on your knee and elbow pads. Oh, and dont forget the cushion for you bum!! ;-)0

OMG, there is NO way I could wear inline skates!! They just look mental. I've just looked at tha and they are £140. Ouch.
I've just read that page about the strenuous exercise and last year we let the dog pull the kids around the field on the sledge last year. It was hysterical and she loved it and was thoroughly exhausted when she got back but she carried on and on - we was out a couple of hours. I wanted a go (on the sledge, not pulling it, LOL) She is just very strong and wants lots of exercise. Not had enough snow to do that this year. YET.
He is on TV on Tuesday isn't he. I think I am going to watch that.0 -

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I know, I do not even know if I can stand up on them still. I think I am going to need those sticks people use for skiing to help me along.0 -
Good old youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFe5zxl4KWg&NR=1&feature=fvwp
However, what has happened to her face??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPY-BXE3ohY&feature=related Actually looks like too much work.
On a good note, this does look perfect for Lucy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQcDH8pmNg4&NR=1 Initially I could just do a short distance and then use the long lead and if she does not stop I can release the long line and stop myself. I am going to find somewhere quiet to have a practice before taking the dog then I'll add the dog later for sort distances building up.
And think of how much cake I'll be able to eat afterwards.0 -
How about using a bike instead of skates? I've seen a few cyclists with dogs and might be a little less precarious

I loathe riding a bike, I don't know why I just don't like it. I don't want to fork out £100 for one as I know I'd never ride it.
Now this is going to sound ridiculous after my suggestion in the OP but I am frightened of falling off and hurting myself.....
Stop laughing!!

My son used to take his dog for exercise with his bike. Stopped the day she got her tail caught in the wheel and had to have the end of it amputated.....:(0 -
Have you tried your dog with an extendable lead so he can run but only so far? What about taking your dog to training classes? I think it might be worth investing in solving the problem rather than investing in skates to get around the problem.
Personally I wouldn't take my dog out on skates, i'd be terrified of breaking my neck!
:rotfl:  Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies
