We need a new mower so I have spent all winter trying to find some deals on new Hayters - they were not forthcoming !

I knew what I wanted, Spirit 41 Autodrive with a rear roller but at best they seem to be £350+.

So my questions are -

1. Is there an alternative to Hayter with the rear roller BUT without compromising the quality ?

2. Should I go for a used Hayter or am I best off buying a new mower ?

We have been through the cheap mowers situation, hence us having to throw away a rusted up and rotten but good cutting champion rotary mower.

Thanks for your help.
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

  • I have been very pleased with my Mountfield Empress (with rear roller). It is now at least 12 years old and still going strong.

With the help of a splash or red-ex in the fuel, it starts first time too.

Not sure they are much cheaper than Hayters though.
