The Bankrupt Inn - Part 10

Im trained in first aid,
hah!..actually, quite a lot of vacancies, as we are not up to our established strength at all...but there is a Civil Service ban on all recruitment....!!!!!
Strangely, we can 'apply' for other posts, internally..but because of that ban, applying for posts isn't done in the normal sense.....so they get around it by posting notices up, inviting 'expressions of interest'....no real 'interviews' in the official sense...[no 'boards']...
as for First Aid?
Well, some years ago, a lot of us were put through the appropriate courses, etc......but as you know, these run out after ever so many years.....and the Ministry we work for then decided it wasn't going to fund re-newal courses...so, effectively, all the First Aiders lapsed......
This about sums up the management policy where I work.....put you on a course, because they can't find anything better for you to do....then, once qualified, let it lapse, or 'time out'....[officially, we become...'dormant'...!!!!!]...and refuse to allow renewal...claiming insufficient space on budget...No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

I feel a bit weird sneaking in here but I could really do with a drink (even a cuppa tea would be nice) and some sympathy.
I was driving home late last night and hit a cat. There was nothing I could have done... it literally shot across the road in a fairly isolated area, I saw it at the very last second and wasn't even sure what it was till I turned round and went back and checked. I got out and moved it onto the verge - silly, I suppose, as it was already dead but I couldn't bare the thought of other people running it over and it being squashed on the road. Was upset about it all night and this morning drove back to where it happened to try and find the owner and let them know. I found the owner - who lived in the house nearest to where it happened. Turns out it was one of about 9 farm cats that he had there, although he described it as 'his favourite'... the cat was about 12, and must have crossed that road countless times. He was grateful I'd gone back and I was able to show him where she was so he could take her and bury her. I suppose, in some ways, I was pleased she was a farm cat rather than a family-pet, although he was clearly very fond of her.
So, I'm sitting here, tears streaming down my face, with my own cat curled up on my lap and purring... I feel awful.0 -
Oh Confuzzled
Im so sorry about what's happened. Cup of tea coming up! That can happen to anyone and I would feel just as awful you do. ((((hugs)))) to you.
It really was an accident and I think you did far more than some people would do especially tracing the owner and explaining what happened. Ok, they will be upset naturally, but at least they can give their pet a burial and they know what happened to it. You did more than you could do in those circumstances so please try not to blame yourself. Bless you xx0 -
Thanks, Angie, for your kind words. Means a lot. xx0

And welcome to the Inn, if you feel weird, you will be right at home with us lot
This is what this place is for, a laugh, a chat, a cry with plenty of virtual drinks and snacks too!
I don't mean to run out on you, but just off for an appointment. Look after yourself and I hope you can feel a bit better as the day goes on xx0
