I'm after the best (or a close 2nd) mobile on any network with internet useage for share dealing

currently got a SE C510 on O2 for calls and internet when my BB is out of reception (Blackberry curve 8520 on Virgin).

I do like the BB layout, but the 8520 is soooo slow at times for loading up pages it times out on the share dealing page  I been told its because the 8520 is a 2G phone and not 3G, is this right?

And I read that Virgin use T-mobile network so should be very good most places, but it doesnt seem it in my area (especially inside at work, where as my O2 is fine in the same ares)

Any advice, or help is greatly recieved :)

Phone wise you may be better looking at what your dealer supports. If they do a iPhone app version of there site that may be better than a full web site version. If they don;t and it's a web site based system then something with a bigger screen (the Dell Streak maybe) could be a better option.

The 8520 does do 3G but if you are in a poor coverage area then it drops to 2G. A different phone may have a better radio and may do better but it may be down to the network strength in your location.

Network wise there is no overall best network. It all depends on where you are, network coverage and any local issues. I live in a relativly good vodafone coverage area but the block of flats by me gives me a ho hum signal in the house. Move past the flats and it gets much better. (We also get a crap FM signal too)

no the 8520 does not have 3G, it could also be timing out because BB arn't the best for internet browsing (does the website normally work (esp if you were on wifi) or just plain never?), something with a 'fully featured' web browser might be better (android and to some extent an iphone), something like the orange SF could be a good choice.

as for the C510 that is a 3G phone, 3 mobile do 500MB for £5 (lasts 30 days) or if you only want temporary internet access then they also do 120MB for 50p (valid for 24 hours).
you would have to check your coverage.

other than that I think o2 is 500MB for £10 and virgin mobile is 30p for 25MB a day.
  • If you live in an area with decent O2 coverage, try giffgaff (giffgaff.com). Very cheap data but you supply the phone. If you're going to be using the web on your phone, I would suggest a smartphone 3G handset with WiFi and with a decent screen. You can get an Orange San Francisco phone for 100 quid, unlock it for free and you're sorted.

    thanks everyone

jonlok, is a smartphone the same as an android phone? (sorry for the simple questions :o)

so any phone with 3G would be a lot quicker than a 2G one, in same location/network etc?

I looked at a friends ipohne and liked that, but are there better phones out there for fast web use?

Blackberrys,Iphones and Android phones are all classed as smart phones as you can browse the net, take photos and videos etc.
