Anyone use personal finance software?

I only recently discovered that such a thing exists! I'm wondering what kind of functionality this type of software offers, how easy it is to use, can you download info straight from online accounts, etc.
Which? reckons BankTree is the best - does anyone have any personal experience of it? Or any recommendations of alternatives?
Thanks all

I use Microsoft Money, it may not have been mentioned by Which? as it is no longer being developed. My personal preference is to keep it offline and I only use it to track transactions. Copies can be bought from Amazon I believe. There's also Moneymanager Ex which is a freeware open-source alternative downloadable from here. I've never used boxtree so can't comment on it.0

another Money user herePlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

MS Money here too. Still works on vista and win 7. You cant buy it new any more but you can often pick it up on ebay or in the baskets at software shops. Second hand isnt a problem as there isnt a registration key.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I switched to Money when Quicken stopped being supported, it has a few things that I'm not keen on but in general it's fine for keeping track of my money. I also use it offline only. My version is 14.0.100.1105, which is a free update that I downloaded after installing a previous version from CD-ROM. It works fine on Windows 7 and XP, I bypassed Vista so I can't comment on that.0

Have been using Quicken since 1995. The last version was 2004 Quicken XG. The fact there is no longer support does not matter. I looked at Banktree when I got a Vista machine but it is very noddy compared to Quicken, couldn't find a copy of Money anywhere. You can still buy Quicken 2004 XG on Ebay. I managed to get Quicken working on Vista by just copying over my XP files. The one excellent thing about Quicken is you can add your own categories easily for income and expenditure.0

I used to use MS Money 2002, but I've since switched to Moneydance. I've never heard of BankTree, so I can't say which is best.0

some of the older very cheap editions of works on amazon include MS Money. I've seen them go for less than £1 (excl p&p)0 -
Excel is the best. Find a template only and customize it to your very personal usage. It really works fine and you have control over personalization. You need not be an excel expert. To know the main formulas are fine.
You can also try Mint, an online service. I do not use it.0
