How can I get our towels soft again?

Have had this problem myself - yesterday tried using half amount of detergent and then a cup of white vinegar in the rinse. The vinegar doesn't make them smell! if you can give the toweks 5 or 6 minutes tumble before drying. Other wise give them a hard shaking out before drying. My towels were very hard but this morning are much better:)0

I think the quality of the towel is the answer. I have bought cheap for years in many High Street stores and mine have always been hard and scratchy. Stangely enough that is how I like them .However when my son was moving out I picked up Christy towels in Debenhams reduced. These are much thicker, softer and they have kept their softness.0
