Cannot believe it. Ed Milliband preaches about a generation priced out.

Nick Clegg has defended the government against accusations that it does not have a plan for boosting the economy.

In a speech, he said the government could not pull a lever to generate growth, and was in the process of unwinding a "toxic legacy" of debt.

He said deficit reduction was a "vital element" in the growth plan.
But Labour leader Ed Miliband said spending cuts would make it harder for the next generation to stay in school, go to university or own their own home.

This, from the leader of the labour party. The labour party who said they would not introduce tuition fee's, and introduced tuition fees.

This, from the leader of the labour party. The labour party who, while running the country, oversaw a housing boom such as we have never seen before.
On a visit to Gateshead, Mr Miliband said the UK had its own version of the "American dream" - that each generation will enjoy more opportunities than the previous one.

Speaking ahead of the speech, the Labour leader, who hosted a meeting of his shadow Cabinet in the north-east, said: "The problem is that the government has no plan for growth. The Confederation of British Industry have said they've no plan for growth, and actually they're kicking away the ladders from young people in this country who are the future growth of our economy.

"When you're abolishing plans to help young people back to work who are unemployed, or trebling tuition fees, then you don't have a plan for growth, you're kicking away those ladders."

I'd say the man has balls, but that's just cheesy. But seriously, grrrrr, how infruriating for him to be preaching on this now.

And our own version of the American Dream? He's trying to bring an American Dream into the equation now? <shakes head>

    New Nu-Labour then? ;)
  • Is it any more unbelievable than Osborne & Alexander talking about the economy?

  • Well let's not complain!

The Labour Party have 'shot themselves in the foot' by voting in Reddie Eddie. That alone is worth a few points on the Conservative vote in itself. Now give it a few years for 'moderate' Labourites (if any) to start the in-fighting. Settle down for another 4 years of 'Cabaret'.

Ha. Labour reduce income taxes, no benefits, reduce fuel tax to nothing, charge £30k a year for university, legalise ownership of guns etc..

    It's absolutely infruriating.

They did nothing to slow down the housing boom.

They did nothing to help younger people "buy a house" as they put it.

They increased tuition fee's, but now the same thing is kicking young people down.

Under 25's unemployment increased under their reign.

Now, I'm not saying they would have been able to sort all this. But now preaching that the coalition is kicking the ladder from under our feet, in trying to reach out to us? They can stick it.

It's one thing saying the coalition are wrong over and over again, but picking up on my generation buying our own homes, and pointing the finger at the coalition for not being able to afford our own homes? When we saw house prices rise, in some cases 300% under their watch? Phhhhuck off!!!

What do you expect? Ed, like many of his generation in the Labour Party, is a self-declared "professional politician". His whole life has consisted of angling himself towards office and he hasn't picked up many useful tips or experience along the way about how to run the country.

But then again, you could say the same thing about George Osborne or David Cameron...

I'm sure you didn't mean that. The man does have balls. Ed Balls. :D

Edit: Just goes to show how utterly clueless labour is on any matter economic.

Lets have a think about this. Of the three main parties, which two think an economy built on sky high HPI & ever growing debt is unsustainable? Which one is hell bent on reflating the bubbles?

Firstly, it is 2 main parties. ;)

I understand you have huge issues with the Tories.

But can you at least accept that Labour badly equipped the UK to deal with the crisis?
