Credit for what? Spending less & raising more tax than the Cons they took over from?

    Yes.

Cus I wanted to put some context on the issue...

It was mostly made up of WW1 and WW2 debt, which had been paid down, by all governments since the war.

Tories managed to get it down further than labour ever have, if this is what we are going to talk about.

Please also note the period of stability in 1980 - 1990.

Interesting that it didn't come down under Thatcher with all that North Sea oil flowing and privatisation sales ;) what do lot say put a bit away in the good times :)
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

    I'm not gonna argue it.

All I'm asking is if you were going to give labour the credit for 3 years worth of decline in net debt, and a period of rising net debt after...

...all I'm asking is that its looked into in context, rather than more tory bashing in relation to every single avoided question. Seems you did not want to answer my question, so indeed, have simply, (again) got for an attack.

    The tories.

I aint hiding from anything. Not even a tory supporter.

There was a recession to deal with then too.

But no point in ignoring the fact that it was being paid down and declining before labour took power.

Or are we just going to ignore everything, find anything, and simply attack it continuously?

I really am getting the hint now that there is absolutely no point in pointing out anything here, at all. Whatever it is, will be completely ignored, or if you say something that doesn't fit in with "the great" labour, you'll simply get another attack against the tories back, regardless of the point you are making.

Which I guess, makes this thread, quite apt.

But it had been increasing from 1991/2.

    Yup....

    Kinda fits.

The recession of the early 1990s was an economic recession that hit much of the world in 1990–91.
