Are Tesco Broadband and Home Phone any good?

Hi

Just looking for any feed back on tesco broadband which seems cheap at £19.40 per month for line rental inclusive evening calls and 20 meg unlimited broadband.
Never seems to get a mention on here to say how cheap it is.

The main worry to me is the wording "unlimited" as "unlimited" on mobile phones is 500meg and being a fairly heavy ish user I might get charged extra??

Thanks

  • Hiya,
I'd be interested to know peoples experiences too, I have been looking at this offer, it looks quite good, there's a £30 gift card which is tempting, you can also earn Clubcard points, but it's an 18 Month tie in. Don't fancy going for it though if others have had problems.
    Anyone got this?
  • Noticed there is £35 topcashback too:D

Tesco broadband & phone are a re-branded Virgin National service.

The £19 a month calls and broadband package is through C&W LLU so you need to check Samknows to see if your exchange is C&W enabled.

The virgin tie in will be if you dont have C&W at your exchange and will be more expensive.

I pay £18 with Sky for line rental, free evenings and weekends and 20mb speeds (currently running at 16mb) which includes unlimited usage.

Forgot about them,NTL bought C&W back in 2000 when I was working for them (NTL)but they remained C&W branded so I suppose VM own them now.
  • Did anyone take this out? does anyone have Tesco home phone and broadband?

what do you think of their service?
  • I took out a contract with tesco but when I recieved the letter with speed they were offering was 1.6 download:eek: I am gettimg 6mb from O2 and 3.5mb on bt access so I told them the figures must be wrong, they said maybe but we cannot guatantee any more once connected so I ended up cancelling.

I would not touch them with a barge pole:eek:

The product is okay, but when their are issues it is obvious they have not got a clue how to remedy it, then the reps start telling you what is wrong or how to sort it, reassuring you they are on the case and you leave the call pretty happy.

Thing is they do not update their notes all the time as to what said, so when you realise the issue is ongoing, you have to start from scratch which can be a pain.

You then find the solution and also the issue does not exist and that a rep has just to I suppose placate you said whatever to get you off the phone.

Service is disrupted so then you end up being advised to stop your direct debit till remedied. Fine and dandy but as customer services does not seem to computer speak to billing, you start being harassed when following tesco advice.

I feel the customer with tesco has to be prepared when things go wrong, to do all the chasing and from my experience find it a hard slog. Billing does not believe a word that customer services has told you so basically you find yourself being considered as a lyer.

I have just left them and relieved I can tell you. Their product as they paint it is a good deal, but when things go wrong the brand name of tesco does not live up to its image.

AVOID unless you are prepared to record every conversation with them so that if something goes wrong you can throw their statements like I encountered back in their face. RECORD RECORD RECORD as their staff in my case made up supposed faults that caused me stress relaying to the billing side. But please look around first there are better out there that do not guarantee you a possible hernia xx

You can gather I am angry with them:mad:

They should really stick to the supermarkets selling carrots, you cant go wrong with carrots:rotfl:

Avoid Tesco home phone and broadband. Very friendly service people, but we had to call too many times to get it sorted. Poor advice on locating router in the first place.
They are now increasing prices on 14 June so we are using this as our reason to get out of the 12 month contract without penalty.
