Is Primus Saver home phone provider a Trustworthy Company?

I have recently moved my house and thought of buying a Primus Saver home phone line. As it is the cheapest option in market now.

I have placed an order via phone and they have sent me many emails regarding thank you for your order, we have received your order, before we setup your direct debit check if details are correct, your direct debit has been setup, your account number is this, you can access your bill online through our this ebilling site etc.

Don't know why but they have setup my two different accounts. And for each account they send me all above emails. I have emailed them back that why they have setup my two different accounts, but still waiting for their reply.

I have received all these emails but still don’t know my new land line number or there is no confirmation email that my landline will be active in so and so days. This whole process is ringing some bells the back of my mind.

Then I did some research to see if they are legitimate. But I am not convinced. None of their website look professional telecommunication business sites.

They say they are global firm.

See their different U.K address on their own site with one PO box address as well.

PO Box 25169, Glasgow, G2 4UU

They have PO Box address in Switzerland and Sweden.

Their US address slightly differs on above global address page and here (ptgi.com/docs/contact.html)

It seems that they are international calling card company (Planet talk) about to expand or go bust. Or they are preparing for huge organised crime behind the curtain. Looks much similar to those high street mobile deal retailers who sell the contract and run away without giving cash back to cutomers. Or I don’t know if they are really small good company trying to compete???

Haven’t heard anything from them so far about my new phone line or details but they have all my personal details including bank details.

What’s your view. Shall I still wait and watch or cancel my order?

I am very unhappy with them!! I put in a request to switch in December, which went through in January but have now received a bill for approx 3 times the amount I was expecting!! Called them today but the guy on the phone was useless and basically didn't want to know. He said I was being charged from the day I requested the switch and not from the date it actually happened, so I'm paying twice now to Primus and BT!!

They can't even send me a proper itemised bill detailing what I'm actually being charged for, I have no idea!!

Primus Saver UK were part of a long established group of Telecom Companies with a bit of a chequered history.
    See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primus_Telecom

The UK Division have recently been taken over by the New Call Group.

    Hi Ypaymore,

I have checked your external links on Wikipedia which doesnt state anything regarding Primus UK. Yes, it does says something about bankruptcy and financial issues.

Also my search for "New Call Group" in Google doesnt sends me any relavant information.

And the website I mean newcalltelecom.co.uk site is very new. I can see that domain was registerd in Oct 2010 for the first time. Also their all websites are using same web templates.

There is no professionalism in any of their services. If you want to test, try calling their free customer service number and you will see where about and how many times you are directed from one machine to other. In between you might come across blank pause of 1 or 2 minutes and you will never reach them before 25 - 30 minutes.

Whats BT got to do with the OP complaining specifically about Primus,s Customer Service ?

To unbalance the thread again, I have just got off the phone to Primus.

Well, to say I got off the phone is a bit of an exaggeration. I was calling their advertised number, 0800 036 0094, to try to get some information as to whether they still offer Carrier PreSelect calls services for those who wish to leave their line rental with BT (prior to updating one of my posts) and endured distorted "Your call is important to us" and other 'on hold' advertising messages for 10 minutes 39 seconds before being cut off. One of the messages invited me to visit their new residential services website www.primustel.co.uk and, whilst on hold, I tried that. Tried ..... and failed.

Although I am lucky enough to still be a (Primus) Penny Mobile 2 CPS customer myself, I am unable to find out whether it or any other Primus CPS services are still available to new customers and, as a result, I no longer detail them in my posts.

It seems the only criteria involved here is price, though. And is it actually a recommendation? I genuinely don't know.

Edit: I see he's listed it under Best Buys so yes, a recommendation. But only on price. Puzzling.
