Iphone Insurance Claim
Hi all .. please can you advise me on my problem.
I recently lost my Iphone 3gs 16Gb and claimed on my insurance.
My insurance is provided by Homecare (via my bank account - RBS Royalties). I submitted all the details and got a call today saying the claim was approved.
BUT ... Apple have limited stock of the Iphone 3gs so they are unable to give me a like for like replacement. They offered me the following:
- Cash £305
- HTC Wildfire
- Blackberry 8900
Now, the phones offered are nothing like my iphone and the cash offer (based on a refurbished Iphone 3gs) will not get me another iphone !!
All i want is my Iphone !!!
I have been advised by the lady in the call centre to appeal the outcome.
Before i email them i would like to get advice off you guys on how to proceed and whether i am likely to get a positive outcome. Please please please help !!
I look forward to hearing off you guys !
Thanks in advance !!

Hi .. thanks for your advice ...
The real issue is the insurance company trying to fob me off, trying to give me something less than what i should have.
Would i benefit from appealing/disputing the decision ? From your experiences do you think it will be worth it ?0 -
Insist that they fulfil their obligations, there is no shortage of 3GS (friend of mine works for Apple store in Leicester).'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.0 -
Find a place where you can purchase a iPhone 3GS, and at what price then tell them.0

Sounds good advice to me
When mine was stolen last April I claimed on my home insurance, also with RBS. They said they couldn't replace it, but sent me a cheque for the cost of a new one, minus the £100 excess. I was even able to claim for the case it was in as that was on my original receipt from O2.
Once I knew the cheque was on its way I went to my local store and bought a new PAYG iphone and put my replacement sim in immediately0
