Yes I too have had dealings with 'Alexa' asking me only this week to send UKASH voucher for dyson vacuum cleaner. what's worrying is that she sent a Parcel Force Worlwide preliminary tracking number and Royal-Mail-Group@post.com address. Luckily I realised it was a scam after contacting Parcelforce. Unbelievably despite me threatening her with police & reporting it to gumtree, she has re-listed this. It is probably one of many items listed in an attempt to steal money. BEWARE!!!

Yep, exactly the same- and 'she' has also re-listed the kayak one despite reporting yesterday's one. I obviously re-reported it, but it's worrying that they can re-post the same ad straight away like that.

My wife had us scammed out of 70 quid for a push chair.

Is there any way to get the money back?

    Thanks,
    Fred

Oh dear we have a holiday cottage I have been listing on there, so far all is good, we have had 2 lovely families, I find it better than eBay because of their fees, but am always weary that people are trying to con me!!

There's another topic like this that I've posted on. I was conned out of £50 for a pushchair, it was the convincing parcel force emails that got me!

Yes, people do need to be more aware but as someone said, people aren't that clued up. What about some of the older generation who aren't that great with the internet and computers?

There is information about these things on Gumtree but it needs to make it more obvious, like have a big 'beware of ukash' sign on their page or something. or at least do something about these scammers. They do nothing!!

If I have said it once I have said it a thousand Times.
How could anyone be so stupid to fall for such an obvious scam as this.
It is Kids playground stuff !

Had a dealing with this "person" who wanted £175 for a table, wording almost identical to the examples above. Even went as far as getting the Ukash voucher but did another google and came across this thread in time! Just trying to get a refund from Ukash now, will cost me 6% but could have been worse....

    Hi,

I know you posted your comment months ago, but it's the only one I have come across in regards to someone who is trying to get a refund from Ukash. I had a screen come up on my computer which froze it, and it said to unfreeze it, I would need to purchase a Ukash voucher and put in the 19-digit code. Like you, I purchased the voucher, but when I went back on my computer, I noticed the screen wasn't coming up on the other accounts on my computer. I was then able to Google it, and found out that it was a scam. Thank God for Google!

I wanted to know from you, did you get your money back from Ukash, because I want to get one too, but I'm a bit suspicious as to why they would want copies of ID and a bank statement.

i could of done with reading all this a week ago, i got scammed off an ad on gumtree for quite a few hundred pound, when a price sounds too good to be true it probably is, i recall even mailing that to the scammer as well. i should of been more cautious when they asked me to pay by a method i have never heard of before, let alone used. i did a quick check of the ukash site and everything looked sweet. the "scammer" sent fake invoices to my e-mail which all looked the part, official looking logos the works, even links to take u to the genuine site of ukash. !!!!!!. i was too excited in my "bargain" that i rushed down to shops to get my ukash vouchers. i messaged the scammer to ask if they received payment, having had trouble doing this after failed attempt of them not being verified i rung ukash for help on "making payments", for them to tell me i am being scammed, ukash were then able to track my vouchers and cancel them. i am in the process of getting a refund from ukash only because after sending the 19 digit voucher numbers i did not enclose the value of each voucher. ukash will take 6% fee off my vouchers for a refund but at least i am getting a lump of it back, they told me how extremely lucky i am, personally i feel stupid and cheated.
i reported the ad on gumtree after replying to the ad off a friends e-mail account being interested in the ad, they sent the exact same messages, trying to "scam" again, i just replied i would rather view item first and pay on collection, sadly i got no reply, awww.
i am a big fan of real hustle and never thought i would get caught in a scam, certainly not for that amount of money, but god have i learnt.
police informed, and to my surprise there is nothing they can do. !!!!!!???
    where is the justice!!!!
p.s. also watch out, when getting caught up in these scams, some may send virus through e-mail, it took me a few days to get mine clean.
hope this at least helps somebody from this kind of scam, since the police won't help you, i kind of feel i have a duty!! STAY SAFE!!! :)

Also, did you come across any problems whilst trying to get a refund from Ukash?
