  • Does anyone here attend a mother and toddler group? if so could you please tell me what happens at one?

My HV was out visiting my son last week and she suggested it might be a good idea for me to start going to one. i am dealing with post natal depression at the minute and she thought it would be a good thing. i shot her idea down in flames when she suggested it. but the more i have been thinking about it i think it mite be good for me.but i just wanted to know what sort of things you do at it as im very nervous about going!

also my son is 5 months old next week would he be old enough to go? or is it mostly older children?
    thank you

the ones i have been to have been great (apart from 1!) Its basically mums and children and lots of chaos! lol. Sometimes they have opganised activities like painting tables etc sometimes its just 'free play' The one we still fo to is birth -pre school and they have 3 sections for diff aged children so they can mix with kids their own age or if they are more/less advanced than their peers they can play with children of their own capabilities.

It does take a lot of courage to go to your 1st few.. and the best words i ever spoke at one was 'do you mind if i join you? I have never been before and feel a bit like a fish out of water today' 11 years later shes my best friend! Same for a good friend who i met when i had ds2.

Some of them seem a bit like a clique but every mum who is there had a 1st time once,a dn they all know how you are feeling!
