While I agree with most of what say Pennywise, the real problem to me is the fact that you have no longer the opportunity to speak to anyone who has knowledge of your tax affairs as it used to be. The recipient of your calls up your record on the computer but has no personal involvement. When I last worked for the Inland Revenue, as it was then, I had an allocation of approximately 5000 taxpayers for whom I was responsible. We also used to have a switchboard – remember them?
There have also been dramatic staff cutbacks. In the region where I worked there were seven tax offices, two Collector of Taxes, one VAT office and three old DHSS offices when I left. They are now all in three floors of one building. Service has suffered and the training is nothing like as thorough and, as a result, everyone suffers.0 -
Success! fingers crossed lol. I was lucky enough to speak to a very helpful and knowledgeable person today. I explained everything and immediately she said "oh dear, I can see there has been a mistake here. Someone has 'assumed' you had a big rise in your pension (I WISH!) hence the mistake. She sorted it all out in the phone call and my tax code has gone down to 610 lol lol
Lord knows what the other id*** I spoke to did. I wonder how many other people he has messed up!When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0 -

It's probably a bit academic if that's being applied to your Prudential pension ...... as the Code will comfortably exceed the pension being paid. Hence no tax.
But - based on your figures at an earlier post the Code should be around 787 ??If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
