Looks good to me
Cheaper than the cheapest Martins otherwise excellent callchecker can find
http://www.cherry-call.co.uk/europe/phone_italy.jsp
Call Italy from T-Mobile, 3 or Orange phones for 3p/min
It's so easy:
To call an Italian landline, dial 290377 - calls are charged at 3p a minute.
To call an Italian mobile, dial 290577 - calls are charged at 5p a minute.
You can buy and Orange sim card with £10 credit for about £6 on eBay so it works out even cheaper !

yes, I've just come across these "short access code" services for international calls from mobiles.
Here's another couple:

This must be something endorsed by orange/t-mobile/three as they are choosing to allow these calls.
Anyone used them?0 -
I've had a go they seem to work
. They don't work on Orange contract though sadly.
Cherry call and Skint Tariffs seem the cheapest

Have you seen desi mobi? Google 'desi mobi network' Most of their packages include Europe and it looks like it works out at less than a penny a minute with the half price offer. I think they are using Vodafone. Worth a look. Ps - my sister is using it to call her husband whilst he is working in Eire so anyone must qualify0

Oh so I googled it and found it, not sure why you couldn't provide a link, here it is :- http://www.desimobi.co.uk/pricing/more
and its really expensive 10p to Italian landlines instead of 3p great !Stephen0 -
It actually works out at 2p per minute to call a landline in Italy with desi mobi, during the half price line rental promotion, and 4p a minute otherwise. But that 2p/4p per minute rate is a flat rate charge that applies to UK landlines and mobiles, landlines and mobiles in Bangladesh, Canada, Cyprus, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, the USA, China, Malaysia, Russia and Sweden, with landline calls at the same rate for twenty other countries. And all of this is on the desi20 price plan which is one of their lowest. Signing up to a desi30 or desi40 reduces the flat rate fee to 1.5p per minute during the half price line rental promo and 3p otherwise.
Based on the fact that this is a mobile phone service that goes where you go and includes UK calls and texts, this seems like the better deal to me.2014 wins: Ryder Cup tickets, Odeon Cinema tickets.0 -

Hey Stephen,
I just had another look at desi mobi, i recommended it to my brother a few months back as he has business in bangladesh, pakistan and also makes calls to a few places in europe. I thought it was a "flat rate" so i was a bit confused that it would be more expensive for one country, i've had a look and it would only work out as 10p min on the most basic tariff.
it could be as little as 3p/minute and they currently have a 3 months half price offer.
my brother wanted it as he didn't want all the hassle of the shortcodes or topping up (though i'm not going to tell him there is now 3 months half price!).
Hope this helps

p.s. i'd post a link to the more useful pricing page, but as a newbie i can't. just check out the main desi mobi homepage or call them on 0203 023 5922 and ask for a local stockist, thats what i did.0 -
oh OK thanks it does have some merits then but it's not suitable for infrequent calls to European mobiles.Stephen0
