Hi all been made redundant...................;@(
Posting virgin....
I need help please; this is my story so far.
I have been/was employed for the same 2 man firm for the last 22 years,
And have no contract (statuary contract) applies I think?
I was put on a 3 day week November due to the lack of work,
Then told by my employer in the middle of December I to start taking my holidays
And then told I was being made redundant,
And that there is only enough money to pay me to Christmas,
And also pay my redundancy.
Christmas came and I contacted employer he told me he has to give me 90 days notice by law( of which I knew).
But if the firm was going to the wall there would be minimal notice,
And I have only worked 3 day for employer in the New Year
My question is,
Am I entitled to any form of notice pay even if I’m not working have due to no work/no contact from employer till the end of my notice
I have had a look on the .gov site but it’s all still confusing
Hard times ahead for us all I think
Thanks for any replies/help
PS this typing thing is very hard to do.

Very sorry to hear that, I am also going through my first redundancy in almost 30 years of working so understand the frustrations.
I am not sure about the answer to your question but would advise you to get to see the Citizens Advice Bureau as soon as possible, and also to speak to a solicitor (you should get half an hour free).0 -
Thanks for the reply kborom
Yes I think that is the way to go,just hoped someone had more info than me,will not take much ?
I will try Citizens Advice first
"Very sorry to hear that, I am also going through my first redundancy in almost 30 years of working so understand the frustrations" yes it seem to be a mind field kborom.
Good look kborom with your circumstances and hope there is light at the end of the tunnel.0 -
Thanks Chairman123.
Fortunately for me, my redundancy payout is pretty good and I can get some short term work so no immediate financial issues.
I am still finding it hard to deal with though.
Good luck to you too.0 -
If your boss doesn't give you 90 days notice (or start a 30 day consultation period prior to laying-you off) then he would have to pay you 90 days pay.
If the firm goes to the wall before you get your redundancy, there is a Govt. fund that will pay you. Bare in mind that there is an official top-limit (I think it is £375 p/w) for payments, so if you get paid more than this, there is nothing stopping your boss cutting your redundancy pay.Never Knowingly Understood.

Should your firm go to the wall the government will pay redundancy
The form you need to fill in is an RP1 (that covers redundancy)
There is then an RP2 form for any lost notice period
Cant post link but if you type in redundancy insolvency look at the second link i have found it very useful0 -
Thank for all the replies and help so far.
Having read some more replies it seems a lot of good people on the forum have/are/been
Through the big rollercoaster of redundancy and the problems that arise through it.
I have been a bit long winded with my post the long and short to my question.
My entitlement of paid/non paid notice even if my employer dose not provide any work/sat at home
Keep smiling people :0).....................i think?0 -
I took VR back in 2002, used the cash to pay down the mortgage, got another job OK. That one's now offering VR and the ££ is very close to letting me pack in the 9-5 slog.0

The statutory redundancy limit (as of 1st of this month) is now £400 per week's pay.
A wider question for people though. Does the reduction in hours affect the amount?
I.E. is the payout calculated on the current hours/pay, the contracted hours (a bit hard without a written contract), or an average etc?
(I just read this on another page after typing the above): As the reduction has been for less than a year before finally being made redundant, is the payout based on the full week's pay?0 -
Hi everybody just an update on my situation (notice pay)
Rang ACAS and after 20minet call with a nice girl called Vicky;) she
Clarified that my employer” HAS” to pay me my notice money of 90days.:j
Hope this helps someone in the same situation as myself.
Next problem is contacting my employer and telling him the news (my good:D his bad:mad:)
I will try and keep the good people on this forum in the loop and this may help others.
Thanks again everybody0 -

Have you got a link stating that? I'm redundant at the beginning of March, and my employer has given me a redundancy schedule stating £380.
Cheers
EDIT: It's OK, I have found it on the Direct.gov website, and promptly informed my employer lol
