Scenario: Friend is UK resident, age late 20s, on electoral roll as of March 2011 (lived abroad for years), no previous credit history in UK at all.
Currently using a PAYG on 3 which is useful for Skype but terrible for 20p per minute call rates. Also has a PAYG on Asda at 8p/min.
Not into texting much, likes chatting to other UK mobiles, looking for a better deal.
My guess is that a contract with a phone is impossible. As the current phones do not use the net, then no data package required.
Can he get a SIM only deal on 3 or will they knock him back on that ? What about other networks ? Possibly wants 500-1000 mins per month.

Just seen that Asda do unlimited calls and texts fir 30 days for £25.
This looks ok but if someone knows about the 3 requirements for a SIM only I'd love to hear them.0 -
So it's calls to other mobiles, data/texting not important?
Try...
900 minutes plus unlimited T-mobile calls £16 a month OR
1,200 minutes plus unlimited T-mobile calls £20 a month

SIM-only contracts can sometimes be accepted when phone-based ones are not as there is no subsidised handset. Sometimes advance payment of a couple of months line rental is requested. Varies by network.0
