TomTom sat nav in spain

I can confirm Tom Tom map is accurate and shows new roads in spain - it works well where I am.
Please be advised: In spain it is illegal to locate a sat nav where the driver can see the screen. There are reports of Brits being stopped and fined by the Guardia."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Not exactly, from theAA website "Apparatus with a screen which can distract a driver (such as television, video, DVD equipment) should be positioned in places where the driver is unable to see them.
This excludes GPS systems. It is prohibited to touch or program the device unless parked in a safe place." http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/touring_tips/spain.pdf

No they wont need your email details to re register it, just make sure you remove favourites aswell as recent destinations along with your home location and pois just for peace of mind.0 -

Why would the Guardia Civil de Trafico issue you with a fixed penalty??
You are allowed to use a GPS device as a driving aid as long as you do not touch or program the device whilst driving, i.e. you can use it as long as it does not distract you from the primary tak of driving.
In addition any sensible driver will drive will drive primarily paying attention to the road, and only quickly glance at the GPS if safe and necessary. Most of the time the driver can rely on the voice instructions, so viewing the gps is not required.0 -
