Online retailer accepted then cancelled order, took payment, then put price up.

Hi,
I cannot find an answer to this on Consumer Direct, so here goes.
Placed an online order for some shoes, cheapest on the net, order accepted, payment taken, received email confirmation of order.
The next day, get an email saying their supplier cannot supply the shoes and a refund confirmation. Checked website and price has risen.
Emailed retailer, getting lots of difference excuses, such as payment method didn't allow for checking stock system and if I order a different size they will honour price.
I am pretty sure that once accepting the order, they have to honour it at that price. Also I can sue them for the difference if I purchase elsewhere at a higher price. Please could someone clarify this.
Cheers

What do their T&Cs say about when a deal is concluded?
Lots of internet sellers state that the deal isn't binding (or words to that effect) until the goods are despatched. This allows them to check for errors before actually becoming committed.0 -
If they are willing to honour the price in a different size, then could it be that there actually is stock issues with the size you ordered??⚠ 2014 - COUNTDOWN TO INDEPENDENCE ⚠0

Further to my post above, here is an example of typical T&Cs (from M&S)...Acceptance of your order
Please note that completion of the online checkout process does not constitute our acceptance of your order. Our acceptance of your order will take place only when we dispatch the product(s) or commencement of the services that you ordered from us.

If we cannot supply you with the product or service you ordered, we will not process your order, inform you of this in writing (including e-mail) and, if you have already paid for the product or service, refund you in full as soon as reasonably possible.0
