Buyers and Sellers, Ladbroke Grove

Does anyone know whether the kitchen appliance shop Buyers and Sellers in Ladbroke Grove is still trading?
I ordered a fridge / freezer from them about 2 weeks ago. It was due to be delivered direct from the manufacturer, but hasn't been delivered. The manufacturer will not answer questions, just saying that I should contact Buyers and Sellers.
Since Monday calls to Buyers and Sellers just go the voicemail system, to a message saying that they are closed.
I have paid, but as it was with a credit card, I believe that I can recover the payment from the card company. However I am not sure of the next step. When is it reasonable to conclude from their silence that the transaction is in default?

We have had a similar issue, ordered a washing machine online, the order was promptly acknowledged and the invoice issued one day later advising that a delivery will take place within 48 hours.
A week after no delivery, cannot get hold of them over the phone and no replies to emails. As we live locally, we went to the showroom on Ladbroke Grove only to discover its closed for refurbishment (apparently).
I started to get worried because the money was promptly taken from my account but there's been no communication whatsover, therefore on the advice of my credit card company I wrote another final email stating that there has been no delivery, no communication and unless I hear within 48 hours the credit card company will pursue them to reclaim the money on the grounds of non-performace of the contract.
It is a shame as they have been known for excellent service locally at very good prices.0 -
i am having a similar problem - ordered 3 appliances - had 2 delivered no worries. spoke to them last week and they said they were having issues between their 'accounts' department and bosch. they offered a refund but i said no as they said it should be sorted by this week. now im thinking that was a little foolish perhaps!
think it will be a claim to the credit card company! never done it before so wish me luck.....0 -
In the same boat - ordered 2 weeks ago and can't get hold of them on any of their contact points. Kensignton and Chelsea Trading Standards have been very helpful - apparently B&S have put in for voluntary liquidation as of Tues 8 Feb, although as of 10 Feb it is not showing on Company House records. Store notice says 'refurbishment', but the locks have been changed and the redirect is to another company.
Thankfully my credit card company have been very good, but I'm in limbo as not sure if there is any chance of the order being honoured. Best of luck to everyone else and bad news about the company.0 -

If so, the VISA Chargeback scheme may be useful.
It is mentioned at the bottom of the MSE Section 75 Refunds article.0 -
I didn't find this thread with a search for "buyersandsellers" but another member has helpfully pointed me to it after I posted in "Warnings"...

Just been advised today that the about company, trading from an address in Ladbroke Grove, London, has gone bust and administrators have been appointed... but it looks as though it is still taking orders for 2-3 weeks delivery on the Web site, which is still active.

Hi
The company has asked to respond. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company says on the forum.
Dear Money Saving Expert Community.
Good afternoon my name is Nicholas Mooney of Ruislip Appliances
In January 2011 Buyers and Sellers of Ladbroke Grove went into Liquidation due to certain financial circumstances and the economic situation.
The Liquidators were called in and instructed to dispose of the company
assets.
I contacted the Liquidator purchased the company name and phone numbers.
We started to trade in March 2011 and it became obvious that there were a few customers who had been "caught" by the liquidation , we put all parties in contact with the liquidator poppleton and Appleby of regents park road who upon liquidating the assets of the previous incarnation of the company set about reimbursing people to the extent of the moneys recovered.
The company has been trading well ever since
If anyone has any questions or issues please feel free to contact me on 0207 243 5400
Regards
Nick MooneyCould you do with a Money Makeover?
