Water Usage

I just be discussing this with my OH tonight about water. We are hoping to move soon but the house built in 1930's has a water meter, we are use to not paying via that, although I do try and save water by using the flush thingy you shove in the toilet.
Anyhow it turns out our house on street is cheaper for water compared with 2 friends who also live on the street according to my OH. Even though its same house, they have kids too.
I dont really want a water meter but from what I gather its not an option there never a problem where we live for water as most of it comes from bore holes deep underground (melted ice from a glacier so I been told)0 -
I would take what the neighbours say with a pinch of salt - they may well be only paying £17 but is that covering thier usage or are they in debt?
I often get calls like this & there are so many things that can affect how much a person pays.
Are the neighbours on a meter or Rateable Value?
Did they over pay in a previous year/period & are using up credit?
Are you both paying over the same terms ie both paying 10 months or 12 months of the year?
Are they getting any benefit (capping) or rebate?
Is this an agreed sum beccause they are in finacial difficulties?
Could your mum have a leak or drippy tap/overflow?
Could their meter be under-recording?
Either or both meters estimated not read?I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0
