Virgin Mobile\Equifax Credit Checks
Have seen previous posts on this subject, have been a Virgin Mobile customer for 5 years plus with a number of phones and contracts. Wanted iPhones so changed supplier for 18 months, as always had good service with Virgin Mobile and good offers at the moment decided to return.
Attempted to purchase a sim only deal, errors coming up on page so phoned. Put through to Philippines and spent an hour attempting to communicate with them. Eventually told they would call me back, which they did not. Three subsequent 1 hour attempts and was eventually told problem was with Equifax. Conned into having to purchase a credit report to find Equifax have no history of me at the address I have lived at and have a mortgage, credit cards, utility bills attached to.
The only records against my name and address were the failed Virgin credit checks. Contacted Equifax and they have agreed that there was a problem at their end and my details were incorrectly matched.
All sorted! Unfortunately not, went back to Virgin and they are still stating there are problems with my credit check, which again show on my credit report.

I have been having an ongoing battle with virgin to explain how I failed their credit check and to get them to put it right. Am just going round a loop they say write to consumer underwriting I have 3 times now. I get a reply saying they've done it clerically and its OK but its not if my credit record is damaged!!
having looked around the web I'd say there's an ongoing problem with virgin's credit checking .It doesn't seem right that we have to clear our credit ratings because of their inefficiency and ignorance.
Anyone know if there's any chance we could sue for defammation of character or something?0 -
Experain refused to list data helb by Virgin Media as it was a load of rubbish. Putting wrong names and account info on files and marking late payments when they hadn't been any.0

I had the exact same issue.
I tried to join Virgin a year ago and was told I failed their credit checks. I then was told to purchase Equifax in order to sort it out. Equifax it turned out had false information about me and I had to email them multiple times to sort it out. They told me it would be sorted within 30 days. The trial ended and it had still not been fixed (though 30 days waiting period were not up).
I was so p*ssed with the backhanded way the customer service people dealt with this: if there was an error on their systems due to a company THEY choose to use surely its their job to sort it out and not have me do all the leg work, make countless phone calls of which cost me ££ and at the least be calling me to encourage my actions and then look into joining up!
As a result I did not join Virgin and doubt I ever will. I seem to be on their junk mail list but it basicly now just goes into the shredder. Talktalk is unreliable (connection goes at the drop of a hat and they are rubbish at sorting it) but even their customer services are better then Virgins!0
