One way flight on infrequent charter flights

There are some infrequent charter flights to less well known destinations.

ie Titan Airways operate a charter flight for a tour operator from STN-Corsica once a week. Does anybody know if one way flights are ever sold on these, or are they always sold as returns?

It depends on which way you want to travel one way.

STN - Corsica one way will generally be easier than one way Corsica - STN.

Ordinerily, charter flights are 'holiday' flights, and will normally be sold as a return flight, as it will be difficult to sell a one way flight on the opposite leg of where they have already sold a one way ticket.

If you want to use the flight as a one way, but they will not sell as a one way, what you may want to consider is to book a return and only use the portion of the flight you want. HOWEVER, you must ensure that the portion of the flight you want to use is the FIRST PART OF THE TICKET. If you fail to use the first part of the ticket, the airline / flight provider have the right to cancel the remainder of the ticket.

You would need to find out which tour operators have seats on the flight and see what they are selling. Titan will not be able to offer you tickets/seats on that flight, as a charter flight that is not allowed - seats must be purchased through the charterer. (it may be one company, or it may be a couple that each take an allocation of seats).

You can get one way seats on charter flights, the big operators have been doing it for years, although smaller operators do it much less or may not do it at all. As Dave says, it will be easier to get tickets outbound from the Uk rather than inbound.

That said, traditionally one way tickets would have been available to the UK, espeically from the popular holiday destinations. The tour operators would have agreements with local agents to sell spare capacity inbound to the UK. This was usually last minute though, and the advent of low cost airlines and tour operators selling flight only etc has made this approach less common.
