HTC Wildfire vs Desire
I am due for an upgrade, I had wanted to try for an Iphone but from reading around it would seem that the HTC smart phones are a more affordable but equally good alternative.
So, T-mobile are offering me the Wildfire for free or the Desire for £60. Is it worth paying the extra for the Desire? From what I've seen the only differences are the screen resolution and processor; what does this mean in real terms? Would I regret not paying the extra?
Main things I am interested in are internet access, sat nav, and some child friendly apps to keep the toddler amused. Diary, notes etc are also useful.
Should I give any consideration to the other phones they are offering? Namely LG Optimus One, Motorola Defy and Nokia C6 for free or Nokia N8 for £50.
Any opinions??

For me, Desire is well worth extra £60.0 -
Depends what you want out of the phone. My son has a Desire, but he's a tech nut and flashes a new rom every few days, use the sat nav daily ect.
My daughter has a Wildfire and loves it, but all she wants is a phone that texts and use a bit of internet on.
If you want to run a lot of apps then the Desire might be better as its a faster processor. If not, go for the Wildfire. . .0 -
The Desire has a larger, higher resolution screen, much faster processor and 128Mb more RAM.
It's worth paying a bit extra for in my opinion, although as already stated, it does depend on how you plan on using it. For everyday tasks, the Desire will be snappier in general. For games the difference will be much bigger as the Wildfire doesn't have a GPU.0 -
I have a Desire and I would definitely take it over the Wildfire for £60. The difference between the two models SIM-free is over £150 so on paper you're either getting a good deal on a Desire or a poor deal on a Wildfire.
The biggest difference between them is the screen resolution so if you're unsure try to see both phones working side by side so you can judge if the lower resolution of the Wildfire matters to you.0 -
Son has a desire, daughter a wildfire, in my opinion no contest as the desire screen is infinitely better. Maybe it's just because I'm an old fogey with bad eyesight, but if your going to be stuck with it for a couple of years go for the best you can afford. There is quite a noticeable difference when the two phones are side by side!0

well orginally wanted the desire ended up getting the wildfire boy was i wrong should have stuck to my guns and got the desire.
only goto to look at update issues getting the 2.2 android os onto a wildfire i'm with three and only just released this the other day where as vodaphone and o2 did it back at christmas just think of future proofing a bit. by the time is up on the contract now i would think the next generation will be along by then anyway.0 -
The next generation has already appeared, the LG Optimus 2X and the Motorola Artix0

I have a Desire and a colleague has the Wildfire. Both are good phones, but comparing them head to head, the Desire is worth much more than £60 of my money for the screen real-eatate and quality alone. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

I think purely on the screen resolution alone with the Desire at 480x800 and the Wildire only 240x320 I would definitely pay the extra £60. Also much faster processer at 1Ghz compared to 528Mhz0

Being that the Wildfire is around £130 at its lowest, if the Desire is only £60 more, where are you finding it for £190 as everywhere I look it seems to be £300+0
