Car Rental in Ireland, Under 25

I'm planning a trip to Ireland and looking into car hire. Not sure for how long, depends how much the car rental costs!
I'm 21, I've had my driving licence for 4 years now with no accidents or convictions, and I imagined it would be easy to find a company who accept drivers of my age. But I've just spent the best part of an hour looking and none of the big companies rent to under 23s and I've only found one company who could rent to me for 7 days, but it would cost £300, which is a bit expensive for me. Whereas if I was 35 years old, it would only cost £60!
Has anyone else had this problem, or know of any companies that will rent to 21 year olds? I've tried the price comparison websites but the quotes they give me turn out to be invalid because of my age when I go to check them on a company's website. £300 is a bit expensive for me.

If you've got a car I'd advise you to take it on the ferry from Holyhead or Fishguard to Ireland. It'll cost you around £200 but you'd then be able to choose the length of your own trip. Would be cheaper in the long run than flying and hiringa car the other end

Until I reached the age of 25, I used to rent regularly in Belfast from Enterprise. However I suspect their T&C may have changed. One other possible is to contact a dealership. I vaguely recall renting from a Ford Rental branch a dealer in England before I was 25. They might be another possible source.
