Was F2S, was Pipex(?), now TT

Signed up to freedom2surf several years ago (can't remember when exactly), excellent service, truly unlimited (over 100GB per month!), I think Pipex bought them out (I gorra a letta), same excellent service so I didn't care who ran the service. And now it's TalkTalk. They don't even recognise me as a customer (does this mean that I can stop paying?), connection has become laggy, even dropping out occasionally. Why do TT screw things up? Is it deliberate or are they genuinely incompetent? Can't they just leave me alone? I ran away from their landline contract several years ago.

Run away! I was a F2S customer years ago, they were bought out by Tiscali who were bought by some other guys who were them bought by Satan or whomever. Service is now crap, emails are crap - often never arriving or being lost, servers are always "down", speeds are very slow. I ran away to O2 and am fairly pleased with the result so far (although the process of changing ISPs was ridiculous).
Good luck!0 -
Its changed again on 1st Feb 2011 .
Now talktalk business .

Hello Micky,
What was pipex is now TalkTalk not talktalk business which was Opal and is our provider of business services.
You should have now started to get talktalk headed bills/letters along with a talktalk account number? I will be honest i don't have direct access to all the systems that support the legacy customers from tiscali however i may be able to help you, can you email me your details and i will see what i can do to help.

As i understand what was F2S has moved branding to Opal/TalkTalk Business .
Many F2S customers will have had one of the best ISPs in the old F2S and been on an accelerating downhill slope with every ISP that took over .

Hi,
Happily hold my hands up if my statement is wrong however I have been lead to believe that it now comes under TalkTalk Residential...?
Offer still stands if the OP wants me to try and help.

On a personal level, thanks for the invite to contact you, but you would need to change TT T&Cs, which is not going to happen. I've just pulled this from the TT websiteWe will determine, in our discretionwe may take such action as we deem appropriate.
Which means I'm finally going to have to get off my backside and look for another ISP. The drudgery.0 -
Hi Micky,
Ok, well the offer still stands if you change you're mind, if not i wish you all the best with your new ISP once you have found them.
Sorry we could provide the required level of service.

I've given them the elbow too. As much as anything because I can remember how really excellent F2S used to be.
Talktalk took over F2S (aka Pipex aka Tiscali aka Opal) over a week ago, since when the service has been a shambles. They claim that developments are ongoing, which just seems to be an excuse for inadequate forward planning. The new members area is painfully slow and uninformative - not a patch on the old F2S members area, and their email service is a mess. Older F2S online bills and invoices are now lost unless you had the foresight to download them from the old F2S site.
I often wonder if there is such a thing as a really good isp these days - mostly it seems to be a case of swings and roundabouts. But in F2S's case, Talktalk seems to be the straw that broke the camel's back. If you're in, get a MAC. If you're looking for an isp, don't even put TalkTalk on the short list - they're a joke.0
