You can wait for your account ID to come through, and then login and make your first payment by direct debit (which should be setup by then).

I did mine last week, exactly as Sean has described in his post above and everything seems to have gone through fine. :j

    thanks,i just have another question.
on the online application,it stated how much you wish to deposit,i put 1000.
can i transfer more than this on the first deposit?

its just that i am waiting to receive all my savings from my ING account, ready to go into my new ICEsave with the 1000 deposit.

I think I had an initial deposit of £250 on my application, but I actually transfers £750 by the time the account opened.

Do you mean that you sent them more than you'd stated as an initial deposit or paid extra amounts in by another method? If so, which method?

I'm trying to find the best way of getting money into there from another saver without the hassle of transferring it first to my nominated bank account then getting them to ask for it by DD. I would prefer to pay by BACS but it appears not to be allowed according to their booklet.
    ;) debt free...yippee

  • can I ask do you have to put in a certain amount every month, or can you just put in a lump sum say £10.000 and get monthly interest on it?

I waited until my User ID arrived, logged in and transfered the full amount (£750) from my nominated account.

See post 212 (and the ones following) in this thread - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=278477&page=11

So it seems BACS is an option :)
