Best Pay As you Go tariff for iphone?

Hi, considering getting an iphone, has anybody got any advice on the best/cheapest PAYG tariffs?
I've had a look through what's available, but the two main problems I have is working out what a good data allowance is, and what the data charges are above that allowance.
I probably only have fairly light internet usage - I won't be watching many videos for example - as well as whatever may be needed by apps. I'll probably use internet more than call or text though.
Data charges don't seem to be listed for any tariffs anywhere that I can find, so I don't really know potentially how much it might cost me.
Any help appreciated.

you can do a lot worse than 3 mobile, straight off it is 11p per MB which is the cheapest I have ever seen for a mobile network, but then there are 'add ons' which are very good value for money, and you buy when you need to use the internet.
first is you pay 50p and for the next 24 hrs you get 120MB of data to use
2nd is you pay £5 and for the next 30 days you get 500MB of data to use
you get a text warning you when you are about to run out of the add on and then you can either buy another or just carry on at 11p/MB
as for how much data you would actually use the average person uses about 280MB a month, but different web pages use different amounts of data (eg full engadget site uses 2MB and up, but the BBC news mobile site uses barely 12KB (0.012MB)) but in the iphone settings there is a data counter that will help you keep an eye on how much you use.
this are the PAYG costs link, full pdf with all the prices here
also with 3 mobile you can use the data on anything untill you use it up eg voip or video, it's not like other networks that don't allow voip ect.
this is the link where you can get a free PAYG microsim (for the iphone 4) for 3GS here
on 3 mobile you would have to keep 3G mode switched on all the time but if you don't want to use data you can turn off 'Data' in the settings (great if you havent got an add on added).
also any tariff is only as good as the coverage you get on the network, of which I've never had a problem with 3.
you also get 150MB (valid for 30 days) of free data just for topping up, so if you don't use that much data you may be fine just using that and not buying an add on. (you also get free twitter at m.twiter.com and free 0.facebook.com if that's you thing)0 -
Thanks for the help, that makes things a bit easier to understand.0
