How Do I switch Off Prescriptive Text?

Can anyone tell me how I switch off 'prescriptive text' from my Motorola E550 mobile phone?
And also is there a way to switch off the welcome logo (sound) everytime I switch the phone off and on, its driving me mad!!

Just to clarify.

Do you mean 'Predictive text' or 'Prescriptive'? Ive not heard of Prescriptive.

I think "prescriptive texts" are text-message versions of those spam emails selling Viagra... ;-)

OK OK... My mistake!! I meant 'Predictive Text'

We're defininately not talking prescription charges here!! And definately not 'Viagra'!!

Bit tired this morning and all that... the phone is a Motorola E550.

My advise would be to get used to it, rather than switch it off. When I have to go back to a non-predictive text phone, it takes so much longer to type messages in. What most people miss is that once you type in the word you want, if the text on screen doesn't match, you simply press a button to cycle thru the options until that word appears.
