I have an Adobe PDF file which I want to modify.
Is there a decent free tool I can use to make a few changes and then save it back into PDF?
Thanx

Not easy to do for free.
Have a look at this thread for some ideas.
Or Foxit PDF Editor may work. However, the free version leaves an evaluation watermark on all pages - but there are ways around this apparently:

Also may depend on original PDF form, some people when they create a form "lock" the contents and layout so it can't be amended or altered. You may be in luck and you will have full access....just me being nosey...
but why would you need to alter a document someone else has created? I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

I see where you're coming from now....lol.....I had a friend who asked me to "open" a pdf form he was sent as an application to enable him to type in his answers...and as we discovered, although the form was created in Adobe, the author had obviously intended applicants to write on the details as there were no invisible boxes to type in the response. I think you may find this is also the case here.....with the right software (Adobe) you could create response/answer fields...but if you don't know what you are doing and the document isn't locked...you could end up making the mess of the layout.....sorry, thats probably not what you wanted to hear....so unless there's a simpler method....you could always print it out then scan using OCR and then open as a word document.....can't help thinking a ballpoint pen is the way to go...... good luckI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
