Windows 7 on my pc, both 64, and 32 bit versions.
  • XP Pro almost exclusively. I do have a multi, multi boot system of many Operating systems.

Tried Win 7 x64 & x86 and hated them, far too slow to navigate compared with XP. Important stuff doesn't work correctly on it so I avoid it despite the fact I would benefit due to memory usage in some situations.

I have Linux Ubuntu x64 installed but very rarely boot it. I'm too used to certain applications on windows and having to use things like Wine just to attempt to run them would take far too much time with no real benefit.

Can you be more specific here?

I only use XP and am trying to hold off moving to a newer version of Windows until I absolutely have to.

Do you mean navigate in a web browser, or through a folder structure, or just between different windows?
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

I mostly use Arch (64-bit) on my main PC, but also boot into Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) occasionally, and Windows XP Professional (32-bit) once in a blue moon.

My netbook uses Arch (32-bit), the (shared) laptop has XP Home (32-bit), and the PCs that I use as a media centre and print server both have XP Pro (32-bit).

I've "stuck" with XP as upgrading several machines to 7 is an un-necessary cost and I'm not so comfortable with Linux that I want it on all my machines... Anyway, XP was a great OS, despite the fundamental security flaws.

    It's a different structure.

I have no problems with Windows 7 and actually find it better when you learn some of the tricks. My uni computers have XP still and it gets annoying when you have loads of windows and you can't use the W7 half screen tricks!
  • OSX on my imac
    OSX on my OH's Macbook
Ubuntu Server edition on my nearly retired server Although saying that I'll probably replace it with another Ubuntu server! Or maybe an HTPC running XBMC with Ubuntu backend...
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!

In years to come, I suspect XP will by recognised as Microsoft's finest hour.

In almost every case (Vista to 7 being the sole exception), upgrading your operating system without upgrading the hardware will result in worse performance.

Stick with XP until your system dies.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.

Thanks, no doubt it just takes some getting used to!

Oh, I definitely will be :) That will most likely be the only thing that will make me upgrade - when it's simply not possible to buy something that will run XP.

I'm sure Windows 7 is okay, but I've used XP for so long now, and I don't like change! :D

Or perhaps when I change jobs and get given a PC with Windows 7, maybe that will be the day I change.

I meant folders and file access boxes. So much faster in XP than 7, 7 doesn't even come close. Accessing common folders on XP is almost instant but on 7, OMG it's far too time consuming.

The best thing about 7 was the task bar button to minimize windows and I have that on XP anyway.

I tried encoding on 7 but gave up because it all takes far too much time setting encodes up.

If you enjoy the command line then I doubt it would make much difference.

Many people might like eye candy and fall in love with 7 because of it but for me functionality is the most important. XP wins every time. I'm not talking about the standard XP though because that wouldn't beat 7 but with the right extras, XP beats 7 hands down. And no they don't work on 7.

That's even before I start on the win 7 dreadful colour schemes. microsoft thinks that no one like to customize their desktop and forces white on people. Have everything with bright white which causes me eye fatigue very quickly.

Thanks but I will stick with XP until someone sorts out 7's dreadful interface.

Classic desktop isn't a solution either even though it does solve some of it.

It's personal preference but I prefer XP.
