12 Weeks, 1 Stone...

Hi Everyone,
I've been inspired to start a diary to keep track of my Easter Challenge to lose a stone in 12 weeks. I'd actually be happy to lose 10lbs but it's good to aim high right?! I'm hoping that by making my journey public I'll be inspired to stick with it and also make some new friends to swap money saving weight loss tips/recipes/stories with
Ok, a little bit of background. I'm 27, female and fairly fit. Over the last couple of months I've worked my way back up to being able to run 3 miles (just about!!) and try to go to a spin class 2 or three times a week. I'm about to try and add in some weight training too with body pump and free weights sessions.
I really feel like I've cracked the exercise thing, I enjoy going to the gym and the way I feel after a good session. My real problem though is food and wine! Until now I've just been eating and drinking what I like and I have a very sweet tooth which has got out of hand recently!
Now don't get me wrong, I'm well aware that I'm not huge to begin wih but I just want to feel comfortable in my clothes again and make an effort to shift this extra stone before it becomes a stone and a half or two!! The reason for this challenge is because I have a holiday coming up at Easter and I think this is a good goal for meeting my ideal weight and stopping letting my body insecurities rule my life.
So the plan is to weigh in every Monday night and post my results here every Tuesday. Throughout the week I'll log my exercise and update with how i'm getting on with eating healthily. I'd love to hear from anyone who's got advice or just wants to say hello!! If you're in the same position and fancy joining me that would be super too!!
Starting Stats:
Mon 31st Jan
Height 5' 5''
Weight 143lbs
Goal:
Fri 22nd April
Weight between 133 -129lbs :j
Right, let's go!!

I think I should have added that I'm going to go for a low calorie/everything in moderation approach to my diet. I'm not going to cut out carbs but I am going to try and cut down on refined carbs and sugar as well as upping my protein intake.
I had a small wobble last night when I was faced with a chnese takeaway at a friends house but I chose prawn chow mein and think I did okish - probably a bit more fat than was ideal but I'll be good today to make up for it!0 -
Good luck! I did weight watchers last summer to lose weight for my wedding and managed to get from 11st3 to 9st 4 (I'm 5ft2).
I found this a great way to do it as I really like my food so I would eat a very low cal meal for lunch (soup, salad, stirfried veg, fruit salads) which left me with enough points to still eat a decent dinner each evening. xx0 -
Thanks Tiggyroo, that's my plan too - unexpected food opportunities often seem to creep into my evenings so on the days when I'm not in complete control of cooking my own dinner I'm going to be extra good at lunch so that there'll be room for maneuvre later on!0

Good luck startingtosave! I'm also planning on losing a stone but hopefully in the next 7 weeks. I'm doing slimming world and I've just started the whole exercise thing. I'm a bit taller then you as well at 5'8 but I'm determined to get back into all my size 12 things
Are you going anywhere nice on holiday?Mortgage Free by 40 Challenge #190 -
Hi startingtosave! I'll follow you with interest as I am exactly 143lbs as well! What a coincidence.
I'm only 5'3" so 2" shorter than you, and it does make a difference!
I used to be around 8st (112lbs) and I am aiming to get back to 119lbs (8st7lbs) by the summer. Before I met OH, I was really fit, slim and healthy. I went running, walking, hiking and did yoga 3 times a week. Particularly since we moved in together, I've got very lax and I need to nip it in the bud!!! I'm 2 stone heavier than I was and I'm annoyed at myself!
So... action stations! I've joined Curves and also signed up for 10 bootcamp training sessions! I'm also cutting waaay down on the chocolate and haven't had a biscuit for about ten days. I'm trying to eat smaller portions and generally make slim choices. I got weighed and measured at Curves so will be interested to see how I do.
I have two hols coming up, one at the start of March (30 days away) and one at Easter. So I am aiming for as much weight loss as possible before March. :j
Good luck xoxoxoGet to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Ooh this is a perfect thread for me!
I am 5'2" and currently at 10st 2 = 142lbs. I'd also like to lose a stone and am happy to do it gradually over a few months. I've put weight on over the last 6 month mainly due to reducing the exercise I do and moving in with OH (the usual story!)
My biggest problem is OH has a medical condition and basically needs 'feeding up' whenever he isnt feeling too sick to eat. So I am going to have to try cook high calorie and low calorie versions of the same meal, at the same time, if you see what I mean?! I've been trying to do that lately by giving him extras, such as naan bread with homemade curry, Yorks pudding with roast dinner etc. All suggestions welcome though!
Yesterday I ate fruit and cereal at work, then went to the gym (20 min run, body pump class & 16 lengths in pool). When I got home I had philadelphia on ryvita breads (3) while i cooked a cheese and tomato omlette. Plus a piece of flpjack (boo!)0 -
Oh thanks wkdhoney, tara747 and findingmyownway! That's what I love about MSE, you can almost always find people who are facing the same issues that you are!
Wkdhoney - how are you finding slimming world? I think I could do with being weighed by a scary lady every week but I'm a bit scared to go incase the people who are there with lots of weight to lose think I'm being a bit of a plonker! For now I'm going to go with weaighing myself and if that doesn't work then maybe a club will be the answer!
Tara, know exactly what you mean about moving in with OH being a killer - I'm more than a stone heavier than I was when I went on my first date with BF 2 years agoI want to get back there! Sounds like you're taking the same approach to diet and exercise as I am so i'll be excited to see how well we can both do - a bit of healthy competition might give a bit more incentive
Findingmyownway, I know exactly what you mean, it's so hard to make healthy choices when those around you are digging into what you really want!! Your day yesterday sounds like it was super healthy though, well done!
I think I'm doing ok today, 940 cals so far although probably too many carbs as i've been eating on the run! A healthy bowl of soup for tea and hopefully I'll have another successful day in the bag!!
Does anyone else here enjoy their wine at the weekend? I generally would drink a bottle over the course of the weekend and am hoping to continue this treat as long as I factor it into my calorie allowance, is this really bad?! Argh, if only a gin and slim held the same attraction!0 -
Yes, I am very partial to good red wine and it can be factored in. I just try not to have a glass midweek any more! And I am drinking more slowly, so a glass can last me ages.
A healthy competition sounds good (although if you've only had 940 cals so far today you're doing way better than me lol).Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

How do you count calories? OK i know thats probably a really stupid question, but i don't think I am very good at estimating!
Today i've had:
golden syrup porridge - not got the box - 200 cals?
2 apples - 150?
2 small pears - 100?
tuna salad on brown baguette - 300?
sunbites crisps - 120
= 870 - do you reckon this is somewhere near correct?
What are you classing as your 'allowance'? I'm not a massive wine fan so can't help you with that one, sorry!0 -
Haha, 940 cals until the biscuits were passed round. At least I only had a couple of plain ones though and not the afternoon mars bar I'd have liked!0
